It doesn't look so bad when you put the number of application submissions against the number of voters. Although the number of voters is smaller this year, I still think it was right to make the winners and the prize distribution a community decision rather than a jury or some other method :) Quote:

Re: 2012 Coding Competition
IMHO, some voters might have just voted in some categories and not others, so the unique voter count might by slightly larger than just the number of voters for the most popular category. :)

I may be the single developer (worldwide) earning money from Windows Phone despite never developing anything for this reincarnation of the evil. :rolleyes: Boah, thanks to all voters and congratulations to all better placed. Make good use of your devices. Congratulations! :) |

Maybe it's just the developers that don't really like ebay apps - or just that voters didn't realise I was doing it in my spare time while having a full time job as well? |

Re: 2012 Coding Competition
Hey all, I think we can call these results official now :)
I had one query regarding the voting process over the weekend and talked it over with Wonko, but we both felt things were ok. And as everything is consistent with the previous competition and what was laid out in the rules - that horse probably bolted (ie it's a bit late for a rethink). There'll be a new voting process on the next community site and I'm planning to bring feedback from our competition into that. I've already started asking the top placed developers (1st or 2nd) from each category what their preferred device reward is. That can affect what's available to 3rd and 4th place as you guys get to pick from what's left basically.. Folks with a N950 and N9 already through the device program are out of luck, but I'll substitute in the largest share of the bounty. I hope to get devices all allocated before the end of the working week, so all you lucky winners should hear from me soon. Quote:

In saying all that, we have 25 devices from Nokia, plus a device prize from fcrochik, plus a bounty split (which was bounty total/7 categories /2 shares a category) - so 25 + 1 + 14 = 40 individual developer prizes. Which covers a lot of everyone who entered so that's cool. It's unusual to have a competition that awards so many people, but we are an unusual community :) I've been vague on bounty split because I was afraid we could end up with a category with 3 or more ineligible developers for devices and I didn't want to be tied down to 2 shares a category - thankfully that doesn't seem to be the case. |
Re: 2012 Coding Competition
So i ve added results to the wiki page, if someone can review it, to be sure i didn't make any mistake. Thanks

Re: 2012 Coding Competition
There's something I don't understand:
Alpha Strike and Crosswords are listed as winners both in Games, Graphics & Multimedia and in Beginners. Does this mean the developers won two devices? Just for curiosity: can we know how many developers voted for theirs own apps (just a number, don't want to know the names)? |
Re: 2012 Coding Competition
@kojacker
I've been planning to dump a decent wad of cash into the bounty for a while now... I probably won't get round to it for a few more mths, is it too late then, or is the bounty open permanently? |
