If it is still doing it take it back. If my phone was rebooting like that I would not be happy.

I would tend to agree. *could* be software but unlikely. Whenever i've seen this with PCs its been a hardware issue 99% of the time.
I'm just really hoping i dont get the problem. too much going on at the moment to be having to deal with attempting to get MPD to exchange a faulty unit. Since them just delivering them in the first place is proving a real challenge, i can only imagine how hard it might be to get a replacement!

Ninjaboxergirl, i reckon it might be an idea to hassle MPD ASAP about this one. dont want them giving you some kind of ******** excuses about why they wont give you a new one after all!
Wish you the best of luck with getting this sorted! Gotta be really gutting being sent one with the reboots :(

Got home tonight to a postoffice slip! Woohoo will pick it up tomorrow before work. Sucks though to hear people are having issues. Hope that MPD handle the returns / exchanges well in case I'm in the same boat!

If mine is going to pose more rebooting problems and no software tricks will work, then I'll return it to MPD definitely and get a replacement. I wasn't waiting that long to finally get a device that is simply unusable. :( I was worried about mic, but not that...

Slighty off topic (sorry!) but thought I would share with you two mobile phone purchasing situations, in essence to show how MPD buying experience matched my partners..
To cut a long story short, my partner is being bought an iPhone3GS (by me...lol.. for xmas) and I have opted for the N900.
Presently, I have 2 contracts at the moment - one with o2 (upgrading to iPhone 3GS - already have iPhone) and a T-Mobile. From the moment I read about the N900 I wanted one. Unfortunately as it was a brand new device at the time of ordering only option was MPD/Vodafone route (on contract anyway).. so I opted for this. (cancelling my T-Mobile contract)
Its rather crazy in our house as I am so looking forward to my N900 and better half is looking forward to his iPhone3GS. What a combination.....lol.....
But here is the difference in "the buying experience" - he logs onto O2, orders, within a day gets confirmation of order and despatch with a tracking number. He gets his phone tomorrow ..
Me? .. ordered my lovely new N900 last month and had nothing but wait, broken promises and a terrible customer service experience!! duh!! As my partner is a "iPhone fan".. as you can imagine, my life has been hell -
"...told you to get an iPhone.." etc..na na na na naaa lol

Mind you the N900 is brand spanking new and its not exactly readily available "off the shelf" (well when I ordered it wasn't).. but had to share this little shopping experience comparison... :).....sorry if its bored you!

Here's hoping my N900 comes tomorrow..............

Dead or stuck pixels can be difficult to sort out with a supplier. Some companies have minimum number of pixels and their locations on the screen. If there is just one pixel then that may be seen as witin tolerances. Does anyone know what Nokia's pixel policy is?

Dead pixels are black and permanent. Coloured pixels are stuck and can be jump started with programs which flicker the pixel rapidly. Massaging can help some LCD screens but sound dangerous to me. Google around, dead pixels are major headaches...

Just tell your OH that the iphone...
* cant truely multitask (pauses all inactive apps) whereas n900 multitasks like a pc!

* has a crap camera.

* has a rubbish OS

* has no physical keyboard

* cant be used with a stylus (capacitive screen ha!)

* has an internal battery so if battery is knackerd means ALOT of hassle

* has a lower resolution screen

* is not as good as the N900 haha :)

Hmmm this list could get looong!

hi guys, i just came back from work and i got a glad news from MPD. the email saysthat "
Thank you for your order for the Nokia N900.

When we originally processed your order with T-Mobile your credit check was pre-accepted, however having now tried to re-process your connection and ship your N900, T-Mobile have advised us that the credit check is no longer valid due to additional status information being obtained. Their decision is out of our control and we have no visibility of the information they mention. We have escalated this to our T-Mobile account manager. In the event that we can over-turn this credit accept decision, we will contact you accordingly. Alternatively if you would like us to re-check your order with Vodafone, please reply to this email quoting your original order reference.

Please accept our sincere apologies for and be assured that we are doing what we can."
i waited for 2 months and at last igot this glad news.:):(

The only thing iPhone has over the N900 is in the sleeker size department. I'm positive the N900 successor will be a I phone killer. Sure Apple are hard at work on the new nPhone i mean iPhone. LOL :)

I ordered on 6th October, same tariff as you, had nothing but 'pending stock' and received this e-mail today too.

I have now paid £50 deposit and will be picking one up from Manchester on Friday. If it happens to be a credit check problem (cant see why it should be) my husband will get it for me instead. Bast**d MPD:mad:

Have a google around or call a flagship store. i hear they actually have walk out stock now :eek: Maybe regent street in london, but not 100% sure on that tho. Shocking since that total defeats the whole purpose of preordering!!!!

Your guess is as good as mine on that one really but as far as i can remember (tho dont hold me to this!) they managed to ship them before anyone else did so your chances might be relatively good but 2 days might be a bit hopeful.

If you tried to order the hd2 from o2 you would be in exactly the same situation as ordering the n900 from mdp so dont think o2 are that great, actully they were worse as they never had enough stock and still dont.

To be honest, I don't think MPD have been that bad. The only real complaint I would have is the 'exclusivity' and they ended up being the only place apart from Nokia where you could get an N900. For all we know the delay may have been Nokia's fault.

MPD have communicated better than many places where I have pre-ordered. If you want to see a bad company, go pre-order something from xpansys. Remember the MSI Winds date just ticking down until the day, then another 4-14 days were added on. This happend numerous times without communication.

With regards to the phones/online help. I just think they were overwhelmed and they should learn from this.

That's the difference between a pre-order and an order for a device that has been out for some time now! In a few months time you would have had the same experience with the N900.
