I tried something like that some time ago, with a script. Unfortunately I have no skills to do that, and ran out of time before I could do additional trials. However I think this might be pretty easy to do for someone who knows what he does. It's just about using a script that opens other apps, and an icon (instead of an app cover as you requested). This icon could be moved to the first row in the app launcher to make it easy to reach.

4. Sorry, dont have Jolla atm on hand, so what I mean is the main view aka home screen.

INFO: Swipe the events view to second page what show all control icons. Maybe is this the best way, because we see, that Jolla will put a Weather Information on the Event view.
