PR1.2 amazing!
The only way the problem why the "two girls one cup" video is a bootable image has been elected!
My girlfriend is almost complete picture of the heart biteopyi, I posted a few examples show!
Conky is now the name of Chuck Norris, it's just the beginning if you want to start.
All of the MMS support, Ovi v5 download the map now!
Standard 1-GHz speed, and battery life is less than the heavy use WiFi 3g about 3 days now.
Strange people: a black hole eating my amazing tricks to unfold ... Oh, it's getting bigger! And it's very smell! The Dakota ???...

Yes sure it is PR1.2 but no where near release for all of us here. Only China got it. Other country may have to wait atleast a few weeks from now.. Or may be months

Re: Speculation about the next firmware (PR1.2) and Chuck Norris

people

its logic to know the date now

p.r 1.1.1 = 3.2010.02-8.003 realeased on (8- feb-2010)

p.r 1.2 = 10.2010.12-9 release will be on (9-dec-2010)

they name the firmwares by the realease date

you can also see the older firmwares to be sure

Where is your fact? By judging? The fact is one of the Nokians told one of the guy on the other post on this forum.

No such thing is by judging! That is just some speculation, unless NOKIA announced it themselves or until i see it in my application manager, therefore there is no such thing is within next week.

Fact! Read the Nokia Maemo Official site!!

Re: Speculation about the next firmware (PR1.2) and Chuck Norris

I'm just back from the Nokia Shop in Causeway Bay Hong Kong. Have tried out a bit of the Hong Kong version of Nokia N900. Noted the following:

Web-browser:

- Overall feels more responsive. The few "flashes" when opening new pages are gone.

- The web-browser buttons have changed - the Back button is placed on the very left. It exchanged with the position of the bookmark button.
http://www.kwokp.com/Site/Pics/20100501_001.jpg

- Clicking the Back button takes you to the previous page instead of the history thumbnails. This is really more convenient.

- The address bar of portrait mode of the web-browser is replaced with the Back, Add Bookmark and Bookmark buttons. There is no way that you can enter address in portrait mode - you need to enter address in landscape.

http://www.kwokp.com/Site/Pics/20100501_002.jpg

- Drop-down lists are still incompatible with portrait mode - still takes u back to landscape when you click on a drop-down menu... what a disappointment.

- Viewing flash is more smooth but it appears that it's still the same low resolution.

VOIP & IM Accounts: Now has Facebook built-in. (is it new?)

http://www.kwokp.com/Site/Pics/20100501_003.jpg

Maps: it's updated. See the new screen. I'm not sure why it couldn't download maps despite wifi was connected at the Nokia Shop and there was no problem with internet surfing. I asked the people in the shop and they said it needs to be connected with GPS first.... I think this is weird and nonsense but really couldn't succeed in downloading any map (whether US, UK or HK).

http://www.kwokp.com/Site/Pics/20100501_004.jpg

Phone: now allows you to choose "landscape" as the orientation. Doesn't appear that anything else has changed.

Media Player: I don't notice any changes.

For those interested in the Chinese input: the Chinese handwriting recognition is VERY GOOD and VERY RESPONSIVE .... I think it's just the same as the iPhone and is much much better than N97 or other resistive touch devices.

Language: it allows you to choose English as interface language but with Chinese input. Just set in the Language & region setting. It needs a reboot after changing though ...

I have got the US version of the N900 and asked a few of the Nokia people there whether I can get it updated to the newest firmware... Very unhelpful staff saying that "the firmware is Hong Kong specific and N900 not purchased in Hong Kong cannot upgrade to the firmware".

What? ... I want this firmware! I hope the people are just buffling there...

Oh for those who want the product code: I'm not sure how I can find it but I have taken down the IMEI number which is 356938034612433. Don't know if this helps.

No one from Nokia told us that it would take weeks or even months. It's ready and it is been tested, so release in few weeks is more than likely.

Yes that is what I said earlier! Don't expecting it anytime soon, may be atleast a few weeks from now...^^^^^^ from the top.

Nokia did not tell your about it, but one of the guy asked and got the answer from Nokian in one of the thread. I Can't remember which one but it is there. One of the thread related to this release.

The world will never know!! Ask Nokia why. I would not have a clue, I'm still refreshing my application manager every frigging day to check for update

Re: Speculation about the next firmware (PR1.2) and Chuck Norris

@zeefung: based on your impressions this seems to be a small update after all, at least in terms of a general Portrait mode. I was hoping I could finally operate my Phone (note how I don't say tablet, because I also use it as a phone mainly) single handedly.

Maps seem unchanged which is a "meh" and cumbersome experience when you're driving alone - borders on dangerous, same with texting.

Re: HK N900 running 10.2010.12-9. Is this the PR 1.2?

maybe because the hong kong release required features in 1.2?
and nokia wanted to focus on releasing the device there.
We have had the n900 for ages, they havent.
Supporting arabic and other non european character sets is massively difficult, i speak from experience.
Massive kudos to nokia for doing this on the n900 for the chinese language.

It would be nice if it sells nicely there and we have more app-developers.

Still, we have waited for two months allready. Nokia can't stall us months..

I'll give Nokia KUDO if only they release it world wide to every customers! Targeting just one country and ignoring the rest isn't that acceptable in term of customer relation.

That's what i really hate about Nokia. The firmware for any device(s) Nokia released will never be released on the same time for every country. Some country get it 6months to 1year before it coming to others

hedgemonsta 2010-05-01 12:28

Re: Speculation about the next firmware (PR1.2) and Chuck Norris

i have been informed that PR 1.2 will not be released until June 32nd 2010 or July 1st 2013 ..... whichever comes first.
It will also not be possible to upgrade to PR 1.2 if you have overclocked your handset, enabled chroot, played angry birds or given yourself thumbs up in a mirror.
Upon instalation your n900 will auto overclock to 1700hz and 3d display will be enabled. The screen will also increase to 5".
PR 1.2 will allow connections to beta max video links and graphical support from pci 3dfx and soundblaster cards.
Linux kernal is replaced by a cut down streamlined spectrum zx core. It will be possible to play iphone, android, psp and nintendo dsi games ( but only if you have purchased a supporting device )

You got more chance of getting the update in Cambodia than UK thats for sure if the trend of updates dont change cos it seems we are the LAST to get anything lol.
Incidently i got mine from USA and its still got the USA product code THATS why i got it before UK did.

Maemo's firmware page seems to allow anyone to download all versions of the firmware, aka you can get the firmware for any and every region. It remains to be seen if it'd not be the case.
