I won't hold my breath but this sounds hopeful!

That's some of the best news I've had all week.

maybe I'll not send this email to the MD until tomorrow just to give 'em a chance to sort stuff out today then...

Goodmorning... Just a quick update for those of you still waiting.

I emailed Karl last night, basically reiterating to him that a lot of us have still not recieved our phones, and we can't get in touch with anyone at customer services.

He replied:
Dear Suraj

Not a problem and thank you for your email. I will talk to our webshop manager to ensure that your phone is being delivered this week. I do know that all N900 orders have been passed to our Nokia stores for dispatch.

Please expect David Urch to contact you later today with an update on delivery and accept my apologies for this delay.

Karl Borges
CEO

"I do know that all N900 orders have been passed to our Nokia stores for dispatch."

I believe MPD have done there part, in that they've got the phone to the stores ready to be despatched. So the delay is now with the stores, who are presumably rushed off their feet trying to get them all sent out. Shouldn't be too long now! Hang in there guys.

Karl is a busy boy! :) - he needs to post another post on here i feel, just to advise the people still waiting on simple escalation procedures so he personally doesnt get flooded :) - (Or maybe provide a contact/email address for Maemo waiters!) :) - Get in the spirit of the community and all :)

Just got this email from MPD;

Dear Customer

Please be advised that we expect that all credit checked and approved/outstanding N900 pre-orders to be dispatched today for a pre-1pm delivery tomorrow.

Due to the popularity of this handset, and Nokia stock delays which were out of our control, we have this week shipped a huge quantity of N900’s which have stretched our staff and IT systems to the limit (which will all be upgraded in the new year in order to provide a much better service). Our web team are doing all they can to respond to individual emails and calls, but if you have already received an email advising that your N900 is ‘ready for dispatch’ you should receive it tomorrow Friday 11th December by Royal Mail Special Delivery.

If we have requested from you more information or a PAC code in order to complete your order which you have not yet sent, please contact us by email at webshop@nokiaretail.co.uk clearly marking your email; ‘More Information’ or ‘PAC’ plus provide your order number.

Again, please accept our sincere apologies for the delays in shipping your N900.

Kind regards

There's hope guys! At least now we know we'll have it by tomorrow. :)

Just spoke to a really nice guy who called me (cause I emailed the boss last night) and said that my order has been allocated to a store, the store will be receiving 500 phones today, and will be sending them out. Worst case I'll get it on Monday.

Slightly happier :)

He should be flooded. The quality of the customer service his company is providing is shocking !

So they got a lot of orders ? Hire some agency staff (who can start the next day) to do ! It's not hard...

I hope this is true!

Here's a question when the status something you've ordered is "Ready for Despatch" do you assume:
(a) the item is in stock and delivery is expected shortly
(b) the item is in stock and you expect a quoted delivery date
(c) both of the above
(d) the item may or may not be stock and the status is just an acknowledgment your order exists
(e) the status should be "Pending stock" but this may pee-off existing customers due to previous track record
(f) both (d) and (e)

I think "Ready for Despatch" is a completely useless status and quite frankly confusing.

At least have a "key" on the order page explaining what the statuses mean.

My n900 has been ready for despatch since Tuesday I would expect my n900 to be delivered by Monday at the very latest!

If it was actually in stock I should have got it on Wednesday or even today (highly unlikely).

Ready for Despatch only means that your order has been allocated to a store. Now as we are at the end side of the preorder list, all phones will be received by Friday, or Monday at the absolute latest.

None of the above - mine is still "ready for despatch" and I'm sitting here listening to mp3's on my nice new n900 :)

I just want to say thanks to Young_mario for posting the email to this forum!

It looks promising and hopefully I'll get my n900 tomorrow(Friday) and genuinely new information.

MPD and Karl should have posted this as a reply in this forum directly - it would have gained them some respect (if the n900s are delivered on Friday).

Instead we had to rely on Young_mario for the information instead.

Make sure you think him for this!

Another update:

I just e-mailed David Urch(nice guy) and he phoned me back in 3 minutes!! He confirmed what others have received in an e-mail that all phones are at individual stores(mines at Manchester by the way, some 250 miles away!!) and depending on how many they have and how busy they are, we should receive them either tomorrow, saturday or Monday.

He did say that Manchester is quite an efficient store so I should expect mine by Saturday if all goes well.

He also said once your status has changed to 'Completed' or you get a dispatch e-mail, your order should arrive on that day as he updates them every morning.

So here's hoping for tomorrow/Saturday then for me(ordered 24/11)

Just got off the phone with David Urch (Webshop Fulfilment Manager)

1) All Nokia N900's have now been dispatched to stores.

2) The stores are working till 10pm today and 10pm tomorrow to have all phones sent out.

3) We should all recieve them tomorrow or on Saturday.

4) Just to save his back, he said although it may be Monday at the latest.

5) MPD did send the phones to the stores on a first ordered basis. However some stores were quicker than others to dispatch the phones, hence the mix up in the que.

6) He apologised to everyone here!

Right, off to work now :)

Maybe what I should have said is more respect.

Karl has already posted on the forum apologizing for the delays many of us experienced. I thought that was decent of the guy to do that and hence earned some respect from the people on this thread.

However, it would have been much better if Karl or a representative from MPD posted this information directly to the board instead - it's would be good public relations to do this.
It would have been better doing it this way rather than to be announced by a third-party (Young_mario and now a few others) means many people would not have known.

I have not been sent this email and would not have known about the current developments.

To be fair, initially I did not blame MPD for all the problems they have with the n900.

I blame Nokia for the delays - the constant changing of the release date of the n900 meant is was extremely difficult for MPD to plan or implement any kind of delivery strategy.

You end up with about 27GB free on the phone, not figured that out yet :)

But so far, about 30+ apps, a few gig of mp3's and about 5 5-800mb avi's, still tonnes of room free, won't need a memory card for a while :)

Smaller then expexted?

Simple checks.
Mic working
Incoming/outgoing calls working
signal check
Length of time/reboots. - mine has been turned on since sunday with none - so looking good

Give it a mini stress test, load up some of the installed apps, see how the mult-tasking works for you :) (I pre-empt a smile on your face when you try!)

32GB = 30.51 GiB

30.51GiB (Total) - 2 GiB (App Space) - 768 MB (Swap) = 28.51.

The rest is probably maps, backgrounds, etc. :)
