Re: The Nokia Internet Tablet Video Converter
To fattomm ..
I would not run a downloaded .exe just like that if it did not come from Nokia. And I always have Symantec Antivirus running on my laptop, even if I were that stupid ! Okay .. so I did not think it was connecting anywhere either, because if it was at all, it should have been able to ( just like Yahoo messenger is able to ) - so now that that is out of the way ..what more do I need to do on XP ? I did a netstat with the converter running and nothing is listening on port 1234 . So looks like when the exe comes up, it is not able to open a listening port . What could be the reasons for that ? What could I check? As I already mentioned, the Windows firewall has already been given an 'exception' for the application, and I do have admin rights on my laptop |
Re: The Nokia Internet Tablet Video Converter
Is there anyway you could try turning windows firewall off completely and try to start up the app and see if that makes a difference?

I guess this is not for me then ... |
Re: The Nokia Internet Tablet Video Converter
Well.. I think I have gotten around the port problem. I changed the listening port to '5234' - from 1234 , and now when I bring up the Converter application, netstat shows me something listening on that port, and the popup about mediahandler not connecting is gone.
But now if I drop a WMV file on the app, it does not do anything at all. No error message or anything. I have tried to switch it to manual mode - still nothing |
Re: The Nokia Internet Tablet Video Converter
I still suspect that something is not right on your system. Can you actually see a mediahandler.exe process running? Also, I am not a 100% sure that changing the port number in the config will fix anything as there may be hardcoded port numbers in the code.
