Kidding... I'll maintain the maemo port of Xournal as long as I can and that means work.

I should have good news next week.

Thanks for your efforts. I just got my N810 and Xournal is one of the primary apps that I use so it will get installed ASAP. It is an extremely useful app ... even for the desktop (I have it installed on my Fedora box too).

Hi,

i was contacted by debernardis about the conflict with my libart package for gnumeric. It would be really nice if you could use my package for Xournal. (Please note that i intend to upload the libart package together with Gnumeric to extras-devel in the next weeks, so this issue will be much more important then.)

You can find the package (compiled for armel) and the debian package sources under http://people.debian.org/~tschmidt/m...k/libart-lgpl/.

I also would recommend you to use the sources of Debian packages as starting point when you need a specific library or program as dependancy for your own packages. This way you would probably be able to avoid doing a lot of work. And it would most likely avoid conflicts like this one.

To check if a certain package is allready available in Debian you can use the search function on http://www.debian.org/distrib/packages (If you are running Debian on your own PC, doing a "apt-cache search keyword" would do the trick too.). Then you should add a line like "deb-src http://ftp2.de.debian.org/debian/ etch main contrib non-free" to /etc/apt/sources.list in your scratchbox environment. Afterwards you can get the sources of the Debian package via "apt-get source packagename".

Anidel, allow me to take the time out and say thank you for porting this.

"to talk the time out"... I've never listened to this expression.. cool..
anyway you're welcome..

@chilli, great thank you. I'll use your library for my port and remove my own libart.
Good hint too.. I was looking for it. I'll do the same for ghostscript hoping it'll bring a smaller package for Xournal.

I meant to say "take the time out"... OUCH. I swear that English is my first language... vielleicht.

Re: Xournal 0.4.1 coming to OS2008/Chinook

I'm having dependency errors trying to install xournal and I go around and round with various apt-get's tying to fix it but the results are the same. If anyone has any cluse, I'd appreciate some guidance.

Here's what I get. It originally failed to install xia maemo web page or app manager and when I try either again it responds that it is already installed. I try uninstalling it and reinstalling it and I get "cannot install" and sometimes app manager blows up. Via XTerm I try and get the following:

xournal is already the newest version.
You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
libgnomeprint2.2: Depends: libart-2.0 (>= 2.0.0) but it is not going to be installed
xournal: Depends: libart-2.0 (>= 2.3.19) but it is not going to be installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).

Could be you've got some cached downloads that are screwed up.
Try finding and deleting the file referenced above.
Also try clearing out or disabling any extraneous repositories.

In my case cleaning cache didn't work.

I had to un-install some of my programs in order to make some space.

I was using 128MB Internal card as well as 4GB external card.
really didn't have too much things install.

You have gnumeric installed, don't you? There is an incompatibility at present. Anidel shall fix it, he said.
