Have you bought a N900? With who do you plan to use before videotron get 3g 1700. I don't think Rogers bought 1700 mgz as we can see here completly at the bothom you see who as what for frequency. I wonder if we it is possible to change the frequency of the phone?

Hi every one from Canada.

After doing some researche on that mather I found that Rogers Canada offer the 2100 for 3G and it has been confirm with them with the department of data has of today. They do that frequency by their Fido network that is the same network or Rogers. So youpi will be abble to use the 3G for the N900!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@JD2010 - I am sorry, but I do not understand your post. I am currently operating a N900 on Fido, and the fastest I get is EDGE speeds since to my knowledge, they are not operating on the correct data frequencies for the N900. Are you saying that Rogers has confirmed that they will support the correct 3G frequencies for the N900 soon?

All the actual major players (Telus, Bell, Rogers, ...) have bought AWS spectrum in the auction last year: http://www.ic.gc.ca/eic/site/smt-gst...g/sf09001.html

The thing is they have not announced any plans to use them yet...
Also, I'm not sure that using 2100 Mhz actually guarantees any compatibility as AWS uses 2 channels, 1 for up and 1 for down if my understanding is correct (but this really is an acronym soup!).

As for me, I'll use it with my 15$ a month fido account, I don't really care for 3G for now or even EDGE, I can get wifi access almost anywhere i'll need it.

Die telcos, die! :P

You already have a N900 when they are not out?

Rogers data support told me they have the 2100 frequency wich is in the spec of the N900 so it should work.
WCDMA 900/1700/2100. Maximum speed PS up to 384/384 kbps (DL/UL)

JD2010, I can confirm what EIPI wrote. Rogers / Fido can currently only provide EDGE speeds (2.5G) to the N900.

Check this thread and other "Canada" Thread (search) as many find different solutions.
As for myself in MTL I'm ordering fro MobileCityOnline who are hopefully getting them by November 20.

How come if Rogers have the 2100 3g frequency it wont work has it said in the spec of the N900 it say that 3G spec is 2100?
