It didn't exist on my handset but I created it and added that line. It worked for me.

I'm not sure why I didn't have the file, though.... :confused:

That file doesn't exist on my fresly flashed N900 with PR1.2... and creating it, ~/.osso/call-ui.ini, with the suggested content appears not enough to make service codes on my handset work... my telco is T-mobile.

Edit 6/19/10: Ok, its working... was using wrong codes for testing!

Hey all. Got a question for someone.

I have a T-Mobile prepaid cell phone that's a real piece.

I only use it for emergencies though.

I have it so that my cell phone will go off when receiving a text message.

I never read these messages on my cell phone but it looks as though I still get charged for each of them.

Is there any way to get a notice of an incoming text message for free without being online? I have an N800.

I don't think I get charged for receiving a phone call on my cell if I don't answer.

So yeah, I'm hoping there might be some type of Google Voice settings that I can change so I'm not getting charged all the time like I am.

I tend to get about 50 text messages a day.

Ah garbage, I probably said this all wrong.

Basically, I guess I'm asking if there's a way have Google Voice call my cell phone rather than text the message when receiving one.

Short answer NO,but you can have the text messages forwarded to a Gmail account and if you have a push mail service with TMO you could check your mail.

Of course yes, Google Voice will call your cell phone - that is the who essense of Google Voice.

But point is poeple will have to call your Google voice number (not your cell number) and then in GV you set up your Cell number as the forwarding number.

In that case when anybody call your GV number, your cell phone will also ring. You can setup multiple phones as forwareded numbers - like have both Cell phone and Home phone ring when you are at home and have only Cell phone ring on Weekdays when you are away from home .. and so on.

No. this isn't what I'm asking for.

I already have my house, cell and tablet tied together with Google Voice.

The thing is, I'm rarely online.

I currently have dial-up at home, and since that's an analog signal, it can't be used with a wireless router.

One of my friends accidentally sent a text message to my house phone instead of my Google Voice number a couple of times where a computer spoke what she typed.

I'm looking for something just like that, where my cell phone rings but a text isn't sent to it so to save on constantly paying out money on prepaid cell phone cards.

I don't bother ever reading the messages on my cell phone so I don't quite get why I still have to pay for each of them.

I'm just looking for a creative workaround so that I can be notified when receiving a text without being online.

Hope that straightens out the request on this. :)

I just got it set up .. Works great .. but how do you send the code to get N900 Visual Voicemail . I tried with sms and error code . any help on this ? I saw that you have to do some kind of folder . Not to tech savy . please explain step by step.. Sorry so dumb

Okay, there's an advanced setting in Google Voice that I missed as to not send a text message to a cell phone.

I guess that should be good enough.

But still, it would be nice to know when I get SMS messages without having to pay for them when not being online.
