They must be getting ready to launch the OVI store because, I just updated my N900 and I now have an OVI repository listed in my Application manager.

Blue pill Application Manager doesn't show any library at all.

Application Manager removes unneeded libraries and other packages automatically. AM removes only packages which were installed with AM, so if you've been using apt-get or dpkg, autoremoval might not work.

Gonvert doesn't pull libillumination0, so you're after wrong package.

Apologies if this has been noted already - no time to scroll through the whole thread! :)

Confirmed it is the third-party themes that is missing the icons.

I changed back from Matrix to the N-Series theme and the icons now appear in App manager.

Can't wait for the matrix theme to be updated......that is one killer theme! :)

You right, my error, it was PackageView and WifiInfo. Gonvert had another problem.

I removed libilliumination0 after removal both, PackageView and WifiInfo. I don't know why I needed it but my goal was - return to previous libillumination0 version - PackageView started inserting empty lines between list of files (actually anywhere) and a simple it's reinstallation with previous version didn't help. I looked into it's dependency and noted that WifiInfo also depends from libillumination0 and removed both and after that explicitly replaced libillumination0 with older version via dpkg. To do it, I WAS forced to delete a newer version of libillumination0 via red pill of Application manager.

Of course, I payed attention that where is no packages which use libillumination0 beyond PackageView and WifiInfo.

Fine, but GeneralAntilles suggest me to USE apt-get -

Both of the issues are easily and effectively solved by the use of apt-get.

Can you discuss this with him and find some common approach first - do use or not to use apt-get, to get AM auto-removal working? Some acceptable framework...

(After that it is possible to find out why I was forced to explicitly remove libillumination0 after removal of both packages - AM reports dependency from only two packages and both were removed and replaced later with previous versions)

Bottom line: I vote for removal of any restriction in AM because there is no red pill anymore. Just to view ALL packages. Of course, AM should reject removal if there is a dependency from other packages. But it should be possible to see anything.

I think you're at odds about what you expect/want HAM to be with the developers. Their changes to date suggest they're making it what i'd like it to be, also: a slick and straightforward way to get official user apps and content, and support for add-on packages to those in separate functionality. I don't want it to be a general purpose GUI wrapper for apt, and don't think that is a good use of resources, either. The source code is there, though, if you feel differently.

Consider participating in the various brainstorms on the subject.

Glad they make the App manager run much faster. It was painfully slow before the update.
