Re: Multiboot 0.2.5 released

Does it support BackupMenu (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=58633) and if yes, how do I add it to the menu?
Thanks in advance

Re: Multiboot 0.2.5 released

Guys,
I have Multiboot installed with Maemo, Power Kernel & NITDroid. Is it possible to load Easy Debian this way, would be so much tidier.
If possible, could someone advise a simpleton.
Much appreciated

Stephen

Re: Multiboot 0.2.5 released

Sorry, another question.
In reference to the Maemo 5 and Power Kernel options. If I have the Power Kernel in xterm set to be overclocked ie:
kernel-config load ideal
kernel-config limits 250 900
kernel-config save myconfig1
kernel-config default myconfig1

I assume when loaded as Maemo 5 Kernel this won't load. When booting Power Kernel the default config (as above) should be loaded?

Re: Multiboot 0.2.5 released

Thanks for this very useful piece of software. It was intended for use with the excellent NITdroid (now with 3d acell :) ) but I'm sure it will also be used for other things as BackupMenu.
I know dj_steve is aware of it so we will have to wait.

Looking into the readme there are several options:

1..9 Boot the numbered item, as defined in /etc/multiboot.d/*.item's

0 Boot default (Maemo)
NOTE! this option just boots Maemo with the default kernel,
_without_ any options or extras. It's intented to be a fallback.
Also, this item can not be disabled or configured.

BS Reboot

X Poweroff

B Fallback to use the original Maemo script to boot maemo

S Starts a shell

I think all of the options are obvious but i see no difference using option B or 0. Can anyone be a little more explicit about what this option B is supposed to do ?

I know there are some minor bugs in this release of multiboot like the charging reboot loop behaviour and the double boot.
However i also can't start a shell. When i press S the screen goes black and after 15s powers off.
Is this also a known bug ?

Also when running Maemo with the 2.6.28 OMAP1 kernel if i choose reboot the system powers off instead of rebooting.

Thanks.

@Jay-C:
As the creater of BackupMenu, which several people are asking about, it looks to me like it can't be run with the current version of your software.
My BackupMenu app/script is just a BusyBox/ASH script running on the Maemo OS - It should run if you go into console mode in MultiBoot and launch it from there, but I'm not sure.
Seeing as there is a lot of people asking for MultiBoot/BackupMenu support, let me know if there's anything I can do to make it work - Feel free to PM me.

Guys,
I am guessing we can't load different overclocking kernels with Multiboot?

Re: Multiboot 0.2.5 released

Hello All

I am trying to set up a triple boot with Fedora, NIT and Maemo.
I have setup multiboot to boot the power kernel with no issues, but it will not boot my Fedora install.

I have copied my fedora kernel fiasco image to /boot/multiboot and my Fedora.item looks like this

Code:

ITEM_ID="fedora"
ITEM_NAME="Fedora 12 on SD p4"
ITEM_KERNEL=2.6.28-framebuffer1
ITEM_MODULES=ext3 mbcache jbd
ITEM_DEVICE=${EXT_CARD}p4
ITEM_FSTYPE=ext3
ITEM_FSOPTIONS=noatime,rw

But when I select to boot Fedora, it just goes back to the main menu.

My Fedora install is on p4 of my SD card and does work perfectly. i sued bootmenu before.
Any ideas?

Cheers!
