Unfortunately, another bad trend is that companies are making phones so that you can't replace battery. As a result, back is not removable.

In a matter of months, if not mere weeks,
this trend of batteries permanently sealed into phones/tablets
will end in a hideous manner when some few more
incendiary incidents occur on airlines,
probably with fatalities searing the headlines across MSMdom.
It is merely a matter of time before such devices are banned outright.
Being able to remove the battery will become mandatory
for anyone trying to transit on airlines or high-speed rail.

Yes but if you have a removable back it is harder to make a phone ip68 compliant. As a result you can't, without worries about damaging your Note 7, dunk it in a pail of water if it catches fire...

Waterproof the phone. Waterproof the keyboard. Pair via Bluetooth. Attached with waterproof mechanical bits.

Dunk it in water all day as long as it's not a Samsung Note 7.

I don't usually carry a pail of water with me. On the other hand, nor do I own a Note 7. Maybe owning one would teach me to change my habits...

Do you really think you have to worry about a water damage once it catches fire, BTW?

Yes. And if you're an American, you sue because the water created damage while it was on fire.

Makes perfect legal sense to me.
