Qualcomm seems to be ridiculously tight lipped about any technical specs of their devices, so only thing you can find on qualcomm sites are marketing stuff.

Are there places/pins inside the phone that are linked to the speaker/audio plug?

It is an qualcomm prima one. You can download jollas kernel source and integrate the opensource prima kernel driver. As a matter of facts I even have the sources with intergrated prima on my github profile.

Hello, I'm new here, glad to be part of the Sailfish OS Movement!

I wonder if anybody knows what kind of earpiece speaker is in the phone? Perhaps even a Nokia related one? I got a seriously nerving scratching high pitch interfrequence distortion noise which sounds like the membrane of the speaker hits something. I can understand the person, but it's just annoying. I don't consider sending the phone into RMA just because of this, thus I ask if anybody knows the part ID so that I maybe could order it from somewhere :)

So is there support/possibility to wireless 5Ghz band unlocking?
Wcn3660 datasheet does mention wireless dual band diplexer .
I found kernel driver doesn't yet support wireless 5GHz (802.11ac).
Is this true ?

I do have the same problem as you.
What have you done finaly to get loudspeaker working correct again?

Re: Jolla hardware internals

My Jolla's speaker just went AWOL. Headphones work and so does the phone speaker, it's just the loudspeaker that's suddenly gone silent. Out of the blue. One moment it went beep when I plugged in the charger, the next it went quiet when an email alert was supposed to sound.

My questions are,
  1. How difficult is it to open the phone? Is it just to remove TOH and unscrew those 10 screws? How high is the risk of stripping them, on the scale from 0% (N900) to 100% (N9)?
  2. How is the speaker attached? Springs, solder, sellotape, magic?
  3. Anhone know any source for a replacement?

Re: Jolla hardware internals

1. Not too difficult
2. springloaded magic :)
3. afaik, no replacements

Before opening phone, this worked for me https://together.jolla.com/question/...#post-id-51238

also changing speaker at care did go under warranty.

Found also this that is related: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4e5zqG86c4
