It is not some random tool, but a vital part if you have it as your default shell (like me). That's why it is in /bin, and nothing there is symlinked to a location outside it (not on my device at least).

I don't want bash tucked away on some non-root disk and not being able to get a login shell without e.g. /opt mounted.

And for what, gaining 684 kilobyte? That is neither going to prevent people from abandoning Fremantle nor attract new users. Better focus on the initial goal (and hard part); creating missing apps for that...

But if you have more non-optified apps, it may grow higher. I changed it to a request for a separate package, e.g. bash4-opt

I need a application that allows me to use it as bluetooth hwkeyboard and the screen as mousepad.
Just like bluemaemo but then a working solution and a lot less buggy...

I like on device development. To that end the latest gnu compilers (C, C++, Fortran, etc.) would be sweet to have working on device fully optified, since they take a huge amount of space. Also optifying the existing python on the device would free up huge amounts of space. :)

If anyone would create something like this, please, allow emulating mouse input via N900 screen acting as touchpad also for *maemo* itself! For some use cases, it would be really nice to have "touchpad-like" control independent of the place where you touch, with cursor visible (just like it is, when you connect USB or bluetooth mouse, and have extmou package installed).
