mandrake64: If you just rebooted (shut right off, then turned on again), I don't understand why you would be getting these errors:

Re: ANNOUNCE: Easy Debian Turbo-Charged Edition!
@ qole,
Everything is OK now. I have uninstalled debian chroot and redownloaded and reinstalled ,it is working now. The problem was corrupted download .It is very cool, Thanks for your great job. I have some questions about debian linux: 1. How can we change the desktop resolution? Because, when iceweasel opens windows not fit the desktop and fonts a little big, so when a popup opens I can't see bottom of the window. 2. I couldn't change font color in the Open office writer. There is a button on the menu but when I click no color scale appears. 3. I couldn't write text on the slide in Presentation program. 4. There is a problem in the second keyboard(xv keyboard). Generally, when I click a character one time it writes many characters like aaaaa. 5. Is the Java script active on the Iceweasel browser? Must we install other java package especially for internet banking sites. Thanks in advance |

Re: ANNOUNCE: Easy Debian Turbo-Charged Edition!
No problems with changing font colour through the menu command in ooowriter; I don't have such shortcut on the button bar so didn't test that.

Re: ANNOUNCE: Easy Debian Turbo-Charged Edition!
@qole,
there is a problem about desktop panel(left bar), it has disappeared after some settings and I couldn't back it. How can I fix it? Thanks |
Re: ANNOUNCE: Easy Debian Turbo-Charged Edition!
Hi
I uninstalled easy Debian and deleted the image file. I have now booted off my SD card and want to re-install it, however whenever I try to load Easy Debian it gets part way and says that it is unable to install. Would having a partial installation cause problems? Any suggestions? Thanks Steve |
Re: ANNOUNCE: Easy Debian Turbo-Charged Edition!
Just tried booting from flash and then installing Easy Debian from the application manager, I still get the unable to install message.
What did I break? |
Re: ANNOUNCE: Easy Debian Turbo-Charged Edition!

Code:
apt-get install easy-deb-chroot |

Re: ANNOUNCE: Easy Debian Turbo-Charged Edition!
There's a conflict between your maemo abiword and the debian abiword. In particular, debian abiword icon tries to overwrite maemo abiword's one.
If you don't need maemo abiword (and you won't need it after installing debian abiword, because the maemo port isn't stable and finished as the debian one) just uninstall that one through the application manager before installing easy debian. Otherwise, if you want to have both, you could (as root), delete /usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/hildon/abiword.png before installing easy debian. |
Re: ANNOUNCE: Easy Debian Turbo-Charged Edition!
Well I deleted the file and I cannot see it in the folder any more, but the program still thinks that it is there, I've rebooted too.

Re: ANNOUNCE: Easy Debian Turbo-Charged Edition!
to qole:
thanks for advise 2, but it work with same symptoms. Logs been sent to support and they linked me to the connection test page. So, in same connection there are no errors for mac and win, but are with nit. Something inside of Easy Debian is blocking connection. advise 1: i got this file, have host ip, i can change file, but how exactly it must be wrote there is no knowledge. But i think that's not right solution. |

Re: ANNOUNCE: Easy Debian Turbo-Charged Edition!
@qole,
there is a problem(I think a bug) about desktop panel(left bar), it has disappeared after some panel settings and I couldn't back it. How can I fix it? I don't want to download image file again. Is there a command line for easy install from image file without download? Thanks |
Re: ANNOUNCE: Easy Debian Turbo-Charged Edition!
Ok I have managed to get as far as loading Easy-deb-chroot but it told me that I had an image file installed and to delete it. I did this and ran the image installer, however now it says that I am out of room. I had 1.8gb left on card MMC2 but now even after deleting the image file I only have 811mb. Could it have left some hidden files?
|
Re: ANNOUNCE: Easy Debian Turbo-Charged Edition!
So I reformatted the card to get my space back and have been able to install fine.

New Version Coming Soon...
New version coming out in the next few days. This will fix the few small bugs people have discovered (and some I've discovered myself), and it will make /var/tmp available for the very cool DBus Switchboard, so you can open your .doc e-mail attachments with OpenOffice from the built-in e-mail client, or start Java applets from the built-in web browser...
Is there anything that people would like added? Ask now! |
Re: ANNOUNCE: Easy Debian Turbo-Charged Edition!
This sounds awesome qole!! I can't to install the new version
|
Re: ANNOUNCE: Easy Debian Turbo-Charged Edition!
I am just curious what this will will do if we have it already installed?
Will we have to re-install the whole thing or just the image file? Eather way i am extremely anxious for this release! Thanks for all the hard work! :) |
Re: ANNOUNCE: Easy Debian Turbo-Charged Edition!
I'm not updating the image file until the Open Java team put out a new version of Open JDK 6 that has a working Java Web Start (none of this "invalid xml" error crap!) Hopefully, there's a new version coming soon to Sid. I'll be watching the package page closely...
This new version will simply fix some bugs in the scripts and get things working smoothly with DBus Switchboard. Nothing revolutionary, sorry... I found a mention in the IRC logs that there's another icon conflict, this time with the deblet.png icon. The fact nobody has pointed this out to me suggests that we don't have any deblet users using Easy Debian to access their Deblet partitions... :( My new version will fix that too. |
Re: ANNOUNCE: Easy Debian Turbo-Charged Edition!
@qole
Easy debian couldn't support my usb flash memory but OS2008 supports. Will it support with new version? Thanks |
Re: ANNOUNCE: Easy Debian Turbo-Charged Edition!
I use this to access my Deblet.. I just.. reinstalled last week - got busy - forgot to answer the deblet questions before the battery died.. and haven't had time to rebuild it again :).
Sorry Qole. I love the Easy Debian.. allows me use my deblet and keep the auto-lock features and easy wireless/Bluetooth through OS2008. |
Re: ANNOUNCE: Easy Debian Turbo-Charged Edition!
mandrake64: Easy Debian supports everything that OS2008 supports, you just have to do things in the proper order. You see, all the existing hardware attached to the tablet is mounted to Easy Debian at the time you "start it up", but anything you plug in afterwards will not be recognized. So, if you want to use a new device, you need to:
The other option is to manually mount your device (if you can't close your Easy Debian environment). From a root OS2008 terminal, type: Code:
mount -o bind /media/usb/sda1 /debian/media/usb/sda1 |
Re: ANNOUNCE: Easy Debian Turbo-Charged Edition!
@qole,
Yes, you are right. I can see usb flash memory in Easy Debian File Manager anymore.:) Its incredible that we can view and edit alll Office documents in N800 anymore by your amazing invention. This is a revolution for N800. Thank you very much indeed. God bless you |

No, your existing image is fine, if you've got one. I guess I'd better figure out what to do about that message to make it clearer.
As for your errors, you need to reboot, open up a terminal, and type: Code:
sudo debian |
