Just applied the Vikuiti DQC-160 screen protector. Went on perfect the first time, no bubbles. It is quite a rigid screen protector so nice and easy to line up with the top of the screen and then push down with a credit card so its flat and straight.

Almost un-noticable except for where the holes are for the proximity sensor and phone speaker.

10 x easier to get on than the Durasec which went in the bin after trying several times and ruining it.

No noticeable affect on screen sensitivity.

I bought the DuraSec ones, but based on the opinion here, I think I need to get these Vikuiti ones too ..

So I have a few questions regarding the Vikuiti's ..

1) Which one to get: Vikuiti DQC-160 (just one piece for about $13.4) or Bedifol UltraClear (6 pieces for about $7.39) ..

Isn't the second option more cost economical ? I mean you get 6 pieces, so you have room if you mess up in applying the screen protector first few times. With the DQC-160, you only get one piece. So if you waste that, then you would have wasted $13.4 .. Or is there some point I'm missing here which is why people are still preferring the DQC-160 ??

2) How long does the delivery take to arrive in the US ?

I suppose the difference between the ARMR-Series and DQC-Series of Vikuiti? Easy said: ARMR is matte, has a "rough" surface and is anti-glare. It has some anti-scratch mechanism as well: the "rough" surface is somewhat "soft" so that small scratches go away after some more usage because the soft layer on top the film "melts" back together under the pressure of the finger or stylus applied while using the film.

The DQC is the "normal" glare-type screen protector, no specials AFAIK...

You means ARMR-Series is like the invisibleshield of ZAGG, right?

So maybe DQC would be better for resistives screens.

Don't buy it. I used several years ago phone-card-wallet and several months later screen of my PDA was all in scratches. Really cards can scratch screen. I personally prefer when phone has separated pocket.

I was thinking about that too, so I'm a little hesitant. I'm a getting a screen protector, but it will probably have to be replaced much quicker than normal use after sitting in that case with the cards.

^ i ordered my suede jacket from waterfield. i live in SF, so I actually have the option of picking it up from their facility. (i placed in the order and 2 hrs later they said it was ready for pickup) for those worried that they wont reduce the shipping, they do indeed, I had to pick the regular shipping option, but noted in the special instructions box that I will pick it up, and the $7 was not charged to my card. really friendly and responsive people, and the quality of their product is great! i really recommend them!!

It is pretty comfortable except small issue with magnets (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...355#post415355). But compare with n85, n900 less sensitive to magnets.

Quality is great! its super thin but its nice and soft on the inside for the device. i plan to have the n900 in my pocket most of the time, so having a thin protective casing is just what i need. my n900 has yet to come in yet *throws fist at dell*, but it "should" be coming in tmr. when it does ill take a photo of the n900 in the jacket for ya :)

how is the suede jacket feel? is is strong?

what might happen to the N900 if it fall with the case? do you think it will hold?

does it have a string in the top to tight it up so the phone won't fall?

how big is the shipping weight for this case? because i'm thinking to consolidate it with my N900 order trough my US agent

The site has the dimension on there...I dont have the jacket in my possession, but I am guessing it is durable.

This isnt a hard case, so I dont suggest tossing the phone all over the place. Its cloth, so it can only protect it but so much.

I'm using the Nutshell Leather belt case originally for my old Treo 650 for my new n900 and the loaner before that.

Special bonus: the headphone hole cut for the 650 aligns nearly perfectly with the headphone port on the n900. And the top strip is thin enough to allow charging while closed.

Not sure if it's changed since I bought mine (3-4 years back)

I don't have any experience with the listed pouches. Another good choice might be EASECASE, a chinese company selling via ebay, an example:

These are pretty customizable and the quality is reported to be good. The price itself is good for what you get.


About the screen protector you'll get different opinions. The Vikuiti protectors are okay, but I prefer the EXiM Ultra Clear over my DQC-160:

They cover the complete display without any holes, the Vikuiti one has cut-out holes for sensors and cameras, which can collect dirt.

Update on the Waterfield Suede Jacket sleeve:

I've been quiet while I have tested out several sample sizes of the Waterfield Designs case on my N900. I gave them my final feedback over the weekend and it sounds like they are already shipping the jacket now. I noticed they also have a size listed in the order form for the N900.

The jacket fit is slightly snug. If you hold the jacket with phone inserted with the bottom facing down, the phone will not fall out. A gentle shake will dislodge the phone. It's very easy to get the phone in and out. As far as dropping or drop protection tests... well, I'll leave that up to someone else to experiment with. I've been waiting over a year for the N900 and don't want to risk it!
