Maybe related to your bank to be honest. If MPD haven't received the phone yet then the credit check stuff is meaningless!

Yes definitely, that will be the most interesting charge to look out for.

;)

Just fed up with checking MPD. Can we sue Nokia for RSI? Hate to think how many times I've pressed F5 over the last few weeks.

Sorry guys, looks like I spoke too soon.

I definitely had no charge-refund shortly after ordering. I have just noticed a £2 charge that was taken from the credit card I gave for delivery costs, not the bank account that the contract payments will be coming from.

£2 was taken on 25th Nov. No sign of a refund yet but that could easily be due to lag between the CC website and the payments.

Excellent news, thanks for that! So in theory we could see them by Wednesday then. Which wouldn't be too bad!

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

But you know what MPD are like. They give a different answer to every customer and each person working there has a different answer. If more people ring, we will get a range of answers, if the rest of the answers are the 1st and 2nd then we know that's pretty much confirmed.

What for? To confuse us even more? We have no influence on delivery date at all, so my suggestion is just to sit back and wait. (however painful that is ;)

I actually called up to ask about the new contract and credit checking - looks like voda may use credit checking agencies - so that's why no movement there, and before i even asked i got "Deliveries some time next week, realistically any date from 2nd - 4th is when they should be shipped"

I always doubted the claims that they would get the stock in days before getting round to shipping them, it would make no sense.

Chances are, they will get delivered in the morning and start shipping the same day, or get delivered in the afternoon and ship next working day.

ok, called up MPD and they said they should definitely start shipping next week so we should receive n900's latest by friday and "apparently" this is guaranteed so we'll see what happens

I'm pretty sure they have been saying "guaranteed" since day one. This time I am hoping its true though.

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

As we've found out, their guarantees mean nothing. Then again, the only formal communication we've all had from them was stating the 3rd. Maybe they sent that out because that is actually true? They hadn't ever said anything formal prior to that, except for things like "late November" etc, which as we know from Nokia, it wasn't MPD's fault that that date was moved so much...

Have a good weekend everyone! See you Monday for some more moaning... I mean "more N900 discussions ;)"

I have a N900 on pre-order with MPD and I have had £2.00 debited from my account yesterday.

I originally ordered on the 6th October and had £2 debited/credited then also. I chose T-Mobile.

I only pre ordered my n900 a few weeks ago on a voda tariff, hardly no emails or updates from MPD and just shows my status as "pending stock" (I have read prev post and I realise why.)

But as I have not ordered a mobile via internet before, what exactly is process.?? Do they get em in stock, do credit check etc and then despatch or do they "pre credit check" you before any stock arrives??...as no communication from MPD I am just confused. Makes me think maybe just wait till avail in shops....far easier - all doen n dusted there and then.
No money has been taken from my bank at all.. or Voda not do that? The credit check aint an issue as I have 1 O2 contract (iphone) and a t-mobile contract too... I aint bothered when handset arives as such, but just some clarification on how my order is progressing would be nice from MPD..
New here and great forum and info too... any help appreciated, cheers guys (n girls)

If you ordered the vodafone contract they will have done a credit check already. I know this because i contacted them via live chat to ask them wheather or not my order had been accepted as i noticed on my credit report voda had searched it.

I ordered a PAYG VF N900 - so I dont know where I stand with that, all i know was that it was much cheaper than Sim free at the time, and the Sim will go in the bin, lol

Pay as you go should really have the same rules as sim free applied to it, i would be very surprised if you havent. Depending on when you ordered of course

Why? No credit check is needed as you arn't taking out credit so to speak? - you buy the phone at a price - and they hope you use the sim :)

read that - but then the post i commented doesnt make any sense? it sounds like you are asking for the same rules to be applied - therefore .... needs a credit check? - might need to clarify it for me :)

No, they said the same rules as "SIM FREE" meaning no credit check because you are buying it out-right.
