Could you tell me what EAS protocols Kerio supports?
Does it support EAS 12.1 or EAS 12.0?

Would be very interesting to see the logs of activesync even N900 MfE implementation does not support Kerio.

Quote:

Kerio forums say the Nokia implementation of Activesync is not correct and recommend using RoadSync.
This statement has not been updated for N900 MfE, I believe. N900 MfE stack is different from the stacks somebody could find in any other Nokia phone.

Not pointing fingers, just trying to improve the N900. How or where does the N900 store its logs for MfE?

Yep. In the year 2009 it is quite strange to use Exchange 2003, why not to upgrade to 2007? :) Don't take this statement seriously, pls. Exchange 2003 support has been implemented and it is under testing now.

Could you file a bug and attach logs to the bug?

andy_x_net's post regarding missing features in Modest has moved to a new thread, "Missing Features in E-mail Client (Modest)". Please continue discussion of that subject there and leave this thread dedicated to Mail for Exchange. Thank you.

Will "hacker" approach (an ability to set the list of folders which shall not be synced via gconftool-2 command-line tool) satisfy you?

I am heavily using folders and subfolders in my mailbox and would love to have any tool for selecting visible/synced folders. GUI would be perfect but a hacker approach would be fine too.

I realize there is support issues with Exchange and my knowledge of what is used by company is minimal.

But everytime I try to initialize synchronization the status bar goes almost half way and I get the error message saying Error in Communication with Exchange Server.

I'm just curious to know if there is a known reason of what is causing this. Otherwise I'll just try to be patient and wait.

Most probably it is about Exchange 2003 support.

Where does a "move email to folder" feature request belong to?
MfE or would this be a feature of Modest used by MfE?

OK, then I'll add a detail to that request here:

If this feature is further discussed, could there be recently used ( move targets) folders on top of the list of folders you want to move the item to?

Yep. The ideas of UI guys was - if you have more than 1 notification, than it is impossible to detect what email shall be opened. Instead, folder view is shown and you can select whatever you wish.

Could you file a bug against this behavior? I will try to push it forward but without external support it is not so easy as this behavior is considered to be "obvious" by many people.

what we should have is a global new message inbox (but not really a global inbox but just a list with the new messages, so something like converstations)

When new messages arrive it will be added to this list, and when it is read it will be removed. From this list you can open the email, read it, reply, delete or archive it or what every you want. Then you go back to the list and you can select the next new email.

The nice thing about such a list is that when you have this list you can create a widget on top of it that you can display on the desktop. (just like the conversations widget)

This way that weird behavior when there are more the 1 message and you select it is gone. You always just go to that list (ok if it is one you can still go to it directly, or you can go to the first if there are more then in directly)

Should i make a brainstorm item for this?

Sounds as a good idea. But I am not sure that it will be easy to implement. From the other hand, modest (maemo mail client) is open-source and community can implement this...

MfE does not send out my eMails
I hope this is already known (somewhere) - but beside the fact that a lot of features are missing/are not yet implemented - now we come to basic functionality which does not seem to work neither.
I sync MfE manually – and my send eMails should be “synct” (send out) on “next synchronization” – but they don’t. They remain in the outgoing folder forever (found 4 eMails I wanted to send yesterday in this folder just this morning). Once you change the MfE setting to “send immediately” – no problem. The eMail goes out. Change back to “send out on next synchronization” they get stucked in the outgoing folder and are never send out (status on the eMail says “on hold”).

MfE does not sync all items in my calendar
I have a couple of series in my calendar with "no end date" and a couple with “duplicated entries”. None of those seems to be synct.

It's getting worse and worse and for me and my usecases regarding MfE the device is getting more and more useless - yes even "dangerous" when it comes to my job where I need a reliable toolbox.

I've got syncing google contacts and calendar working on my N900. (me happy). But still some fields of the contacts aren't synced properly. for example images don't update properly and the description field doesn't sync.

Is there a way to "influence" Nokia to implement proper MfE functionality for google? I really like this feature and would also like push mail for my google account.

Re: Mail For Exchange ?

I have the "either exchange server requires secure connection or account is disabled" error too.

Our exchange is version 2007 and the provisioned devices is enabled. The certificate is self signed, but I have installed the root certificate myself to N900.

Changing language from Finnish to English did not help.

Corporate mail for exchange not syncing

I am on the cusp of returning my Nokia N900. I have tried setting up Mail for exchange to sync with my work 2007 exchange server with no luck. I use the same settings that have been successful on my E series phones and iPhone. I get to the first sync page and when sync is started the progress box fills up to one fifth and then stops. No error messages. My IT guys are stumped. Anyone with suggestions? I am using T mobile Internet with a plan that works on my other devices.

Something stupid by I had some Exchange issues with MfE on my N97 (or maybe it was on my Android G1, I can't recall) when my company upgraded from Exchange 2003 to 2007. I had to change my user from domain\userid to fully.qualified.domain.com\userid and the URL from webmail.company.com to webmail.company.com/OWA/my_email@company.com

get initial sync on N900

Sadly, because Nokia was in a rush to get the N900 out the door.

The E71 and E51 use a totally different software stack from the N900, so there's no connection between them working and the N900 not. They're also provisionable devices, whereas the N900 isn't, so if your Exchange admins have not allowed non-provisionable devices then it won't connect.

My workplace is open to all devices. I am in US where E51 is unheard off, yet it worked well with my current server. So the issue is not the phone.

Ask your IT manager if the Exchange Server requires the devices to be "Provisionable". If yes, ask if this requirement may be removed from your account.

People have reported success on contacts and calendar using M4E. and then use Nokia messaging for gmail.

or you can try NUEVAsync, again people have reported success

Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls

EDIT: Turns out MFE can't be used with hotmail because MFE is for Activesync servers only and hotmail does not provide this support.

Could someone please please help me out. I got the N900 hoping I would not have to get a blackberry. But I am having problems with Nokia Messaging pushing emails to my device. Sometimes it happens but several times I have to do send and receive which is far far from ideal.

I want to try out MFE since Nokia Messaging is not pushing properly. But I have no idea how to set up my hotmail for MFE. When I go to MFE on the N900 it asks me a few questions I have no idea how to find the answer to:

- Domain (not sure if this has to be put in cause if I leave this blank it still lets me go on to next page in setup);

- Server

- Port (device automatically puts in 443 so I assume this is correct)

- Don't know if there would be anymore questions. Can't get past this page in the setup because I don't know the server.

I tried to go to this link hoping there would be an easy way with the settings I need sent to the device but it doesn't have N900 on the list of suppported phones.

http://www.businesssoftware.nokia.co..._downloads.php

Could someone kindly talk me through setting up hotmail for MFE. Thanks.

MfE is for Microsoft Exchange. I'm 99% certain that doesn't include Hotmail.

Not aware that Hotmail supports Activesync, therefor will not work with M4E (mail for exchange)

Hotmail is not Mail4Exchange; you will want to use Nokia Messaging, or manually input the POP/IMAP settings into your device's email application.

I didn't know if my employer even had Mail for Exchange support enabled, so as a shot in the dark, I went through the MfE wizard on my N900 filling in the server and login information I use for Outlook for the Web. It just worked.
