|
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
Yep, that nailed it.
It booted up properly now *points finger at self for all the problems* I kind of like android lol *sticks to maemo* |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
LOL least it worked :)
|
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
Sorry I haven't read all pages of the thread and I know nothing of Android (and the libraries that it uses) but does it would be possible to run Android via a chroot (like Debian) ?
|
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
not really due to android kernel modules that it requires

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
hmmm how long should it take to boot ? cause' i come back to pr1.2 kernel lol took too long to boot android !
is there a way to boot with the bootmenu installed ? |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
in theory but kevxec still needs some work and could cause a crash if things are not how the new kernel wants
|
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
i dont think my kernel would boot maemo (doubt it) and the first boot does take a couple mins, it has to dexopt all the various libs

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
I have a 4Gb MicroSD available.
I would like to boot a live CD of Ubuntu on my laptop and partition the SD card using Gparted (I think it's called that) instead of using the command line. How do you suggest I partition the card? (ie. Partition sizes and partition types?) |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
first partition make about 256mb fat32 make rest of card ext3
|
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
don't know... will try again tomorrow ;)
is there a way to have the verboose mode enabled with this kernel ? |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
nope but if you go download adb you can watch logcat via it
linky:http://guug.org/nit/nitdroid/adb.bz2 |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
@dj_steve : why wouldn't it dual boot android and maemo ?? it's so bad :(
|
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
i said that kernel may not as i havent tested if it will
|
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
What about porting dalvik VM to maemo ?
http://mjfrey.blogspot.com/ I haven't found more info on this .... Does he has released the source ? |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
this has been discussed and discussed, DALVIK + ANDROID APPS ARE HEAVILY TIED TO THEIR UNDERLYING KERNEL MODULES AND AS SUCH WOULD MAKE IT INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT TO PORT
edit: and no he never released his progress - i dont have close to the skills to do that either |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
oops sorry :) so how could i see if it is a kernel panic ?
|
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
lol get adb and have a look at logcat see if android throws any useful errors
|

BTW I suggest closing the back cover then flashing the kernel. |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

|
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
ok and what do i do with the archive ? lol
|
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
extract it lol
|
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
Great work so far dj_steve.
I'm going to prepare my memory card so long but I'm going to wait until the gsm module works before I try Android because I need to be able to use the phone function in Android if I can't simply boot back into Maemo without reflashing the Kernel. (dual boot) |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
phones going to be challenging to get running methinks

|
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
ok ! so got it working now, but something weird : can't boot without the usb plugged in !?
|
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
also, i keep having the message saying that calendar's process failed ! and i think my bluetooth doesn't work lol
|
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
ahah now playing free games :p
|
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
Hmmm... gave it a try but after flashing the NITdroid kernel, it just sat there, nothing happened. Power button did nothing.
I used gparted on a 16g sdcard to make: 1) 2gig fat32 2) 14gig ext3 I extracted the android rootfs to the ext3 partition, edited the module for BT, put the sdcard back in, put the back cover back on, and flashed the kernel. I'll give it another try after work. But did I miss a step? |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
think the usb issue is down to r&d mode being active, and yes calender i suspect needs a network connection which it doesnt have :( - have you tried bluetooth?
|
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
Doh! I forgot the last -R switch in the flasher command to reboot. Works now :D
|
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
lol yep you could of simply pulled the battery and put it back in als o :)
|
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
ok, i'll try uploading some vids & photos ;) !
@dj steve : i renamed correctly for bluetooth but doesn't seem to work... and do u have a solution for me : it's annoying the need of booting with usb plugged in ! thx ;) |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
whats bluetooth do ? and the usb thing i suspect is down to R&D mode - you could try flash and disable rd mode and see if it boots (cant see that happening though)
