Sure. On frodo, install aeon nox. Now, with aeon nox skin applied, go to settings, skin settings, customizers and select the option to customize home screen (it's the 2nd option in that menu). You'll go to home page and if you click on an item (for example TV Shows) you get a menu. Select widget, pick one (for example recent movies) and after applying the style you will be asked to pick a name for it, this is where the bug happens.

I'm not sure if this happens with all text dialogs (like search, etc) will try to check that later as I'm not in front of my htpc.

thanks,

Ok. Can reproduce it. But it happens only with this one. All the input fields in confluence and all others in aeon nox work fine. For example if you open "Change Label" instead of "Choose Widget" you get the same dialog but it works. So I think there is something wrong in the skin.

Re: [Announce] [N900,N950,N9] Xbmcremote

I wanted to report a feature/bug that has been in there quite some time:
I usually leave Xbmcremote running so that it reconnects when I get back home so that I don't have to think about starting it up manually everytime I get home so that it mutes audio on calls and such from that moment on.

However, I have been testing a telephony setup today using my N9 and when I got home and it reconnected it replayed mutes/unmutes for all 30 (or so) calls! I think that call mutes/unmutes/notifications don't need to be queued if not connected (i.e. when timed out, not during connecting state).

Great!

Would it be weird if I asked if the sort order in recent episodes could be reversed? It is now completely the opposite of what XBMC does.

Also, the Picture folder thumbnails are not retrievied (or maybe they are not available via the API).

Hi,

I just tried installing the beta 3 deb package, but it failed.
The phone displays a message:
"Installation nicht möglich, Installationspaket-Abhängigkeiten können nicht nachverfolgt werden"
Which means something like
"Installation not possible, can't follow (resolve?) package dependencies"

PR1.3 is installed.
I would be thankful for your help as its a mess to use our TVs CEC.

Hmmm. Wild guess: You are trying to install the the N900 version on N9 or the other way round.

Re: [Announce] [N900,N950,N9] Xbmcremote

First of all thanks for a great app!
I'm not sure whether this bug is in xbmcremote or xbmc itself so I apologize in advance for possible "false positive".
The bug is in using "foreign" characters in directory names on xbmc which break xbmcremote - ie I have directory in "Pictures" category that is called "Naše" (notice the s charon sign). When I try to enter this directory the xbmcremote breaks with "Connection failed: Unknown error". By starting it from shell ("-d connect" option) I caught the error - first xbmcreports:
Code:

got files: QVariant(QVariantMap, QMap(("files", QVariant(QVariantList, (QVariant(QVariantMap, QMap(("file", QVariant(QString, "/home/filip/NaĹĄe/SomeFolder/")...
(notice the ĹĄ instead of š), and after that "the breaking" error:
Code:

image fetching failed "Error downloading http://192.168.2.102:8080/vfs//home/filip/NaĂ
ÂĄe/SomeFolder/ - server replied: Not Found"

Obviously either the xbmcremote is not handling "foreign" characters correctly - or maybe xbmc remote is serving them incorrectly.

TIA!

Hi

I've found a bug related to the notifications use in the remote. When I loose connectivity with my pc and re-connect there's a notification of the remote connecting. This notification is shown on top even if there's a video playing. Is there any way to avoid this behaviour? Maybe the app could check if xbmc is playing a video before showing this notification?

thanks,

thanks,

This Notification is generated by xbmc itself as soon as something connects to the event server. There's no way to control it except setting the icon and the application name in the connection parameters. If I don't do that, there will still be a notification just saying "New connection" with the default info icon.

Indeed, I once wrote a control event client for a Wii Remote, same thing. It is hard to surpress. But in almost all cases you connect first before putting on a movie, so I reckon the problem doesn't occur that much? At least, for me, frequent reconnections don't happen much, really.

Hi. I'm the one who did the Finnish translation and only now started wondering where I can change the language to see if it's any good.

Turns out I can't. I suppose you change the language by the system language? When I start Xbmcremote from the command line, one of the messages is "Cannot load translation file "xbmcremote_fi.pm""

So, did I find a bug or what?

I'm using the N9

Ooops, yep, seems you found a bug. I forgot to include the new language files in the package. Your translation will be in the 1.3.1 release. Thanks.

Hi, I have raspbmc running on my Raspberry Pi, which is currently XBMC ver 12.0 RC2. Is there any reason Xbmcremote would not work with this version of XBMC?
I can't get a connection from remote to XBMC.
I was thinking it also might be because of the RasPi being behind a network switch, and that's why it's not found by the remote.

For future versions of Xmbcremote, I suggest the ability to edit connection profiles. I have now 1.1, and if I want to try connecting with different settings, I have to create a new profile. Thanks, Ben

I am using Openelec on the Raspberry. After a while it sends all network adapters to sleep and I have to ping it several times till it responds. To avoid this behaviour I created a cronjob which pings the router every 2 minutes. Works quite well. Maybe this applies to Raspbmc too?

If Raspbmc does behave the same way, it really shouldn't do so while I'm working with it, so that can't be the reason Xbmcremote can't reach it.

Btw Mzanetti would it be possible to update the repo to 1.3? repository.maemo.org is officially back up, though they still suffer from some hashsum errors.

I don't think I'll add that as editing a connection is really not something you do often once you pick the correct version for your xbmc.

EDIT: Besides, raspmc should support zeroconf. Set your xbmc settings correctly and you don't even have to manually add the connection.

No. Network switches make no difference (unless they are high tech ones and manually configured to do so).

I tried to upload it to the repository now. Doesn't work. Something goes wrong when uploading the files. I would be very happy if one of the many N900 users could step up and give me a hand with with maintainance (testing and uploading) of the N900 version as I really don't use my N900 any more.

I updated raspmbc to 12.0 final release, and xbmcremote to 1.3 - so these 2 version are supposed to work together, right?
I made sure raspbmc is publishing zeronconf, and it is detected on the network by the remote, but when trying to connect, I get this error:
Code:

Error downloading http://10.0.026:9981/jsonrpc - server replied: Not found
That IP address is my Raspberry Pi. What is jsonrpc?

I'd be willing to try this, but I'm not sure if I'd actually be helpful, as I have no coding skills and have never done this before. Would have to dig deeper into this swamp, but not sure I wanna, if it's only to find out that the task at hand surpasses my abilities...

Hmm... That seems a bug... I have used it last week with openelec on raspberry pi and it was working fine. Probably there are additional services registered in the raspbmc packages. If you have it running anyways, you can send me the log output while you have the connection dialog open so I don't have to reflash my RPi.

If you want to give it a shot, here's the full howto: http://wiki.maemo.org/Uploading_to_Extras

However, you don't need most of it. The minimum is an account and permission to upload to extras-devel and the Nokia Qt SDK. Check out Xbmcremotes source code, open it in Qt Creator and follow the "Publish Application" wizard. Then upload the result to https://garage.maemo.org/extras-assistant/index.php

If that works out for you, the responsibility would be to test upcoming versions on Maemo5 and update the version numbers and changelogs for this platform before creating and uploading the package.

If you think you can manage this but are stuck with some problem somewhere, feel free to drop me a mail and ask for help.

A small request - if possible:

can you add another button for the right most menu that runs the toggle fullscreen of the XBMC window (like pressing '\' key on the keyboard)?

it happens sometimes that it does not open full screen and the only way to make it one is to go to the keyboard and press this key.

Re: [Announce] [N900,N950,N9] Xbmcremote

I switched to OpenELEC because there is a custom build by Rbej that supports usb hotplugging.
Xbmcremote successfully connects to this one via Zeroconf, very quickly!
Now, the next obstacle: music titles view is not shown in Xbmcremote :(
here's the output from terminal:
http://pastie.org/7676197

When I click on "titles" on XBMC itself on the Raspberry Pi, it also takes several minutes to load the list. I guess there must be something wrong with that in the first place.
However, after the RPi finally gets there, Xbmcremote *never* catches up: I gave it like several hours, but the titles list just remains empty.
This problem does not occur with albums, artists, etc., only titles.
The RPi/OpenELEC retrieves my music collection from an NAS via UPnP. The collection is large, but I'm sure nothing out of the ordinary, and a modern media player like XBMC should easily handle much larger libraries. Where is your RPi fetching the music files from?
I'm thinking maybe I should just try a SMB share...

Edit: this time it actually worked, some minutes after I posted this. I added the output to the paste.
Each title is shown 11(!) times in the list though. Some albums are also in the list multiple times. Some more output:

Hi,

Thanks for reporting. The combination of the slow raspberry pi and a huge library will always need a huge amount of time for loading. However, I've changed the code to download chunks of 200 titles which should at least let you start browsing while its still loading. If you could build current git master and let me know how it works for you it would be great.

Hi, this looks like a bug in latest available version (1.3.0) for N9.
The buttons in red square (See attached image) are not working.
I am on XBMC 12.1 and N9 PR1.3.

I tried and unfortunately, I can't seem to handle the package maintenance on my own. Maybe you could make some kind of note in the first post, that that position is to be filled for the N900 packages. It would be a pity if you had unpublished code - or rather, uncompiled - lying around unavaliable to Maemo users.

Btw I also tried an SMB share from the NAS instead of UPnP, with the same result - each song is listed multiple times by Xbmcremote (while everything looks normal on XBMC). Maybe that problem would go away with the latest fix though.

Cool. If you're using Ubuntu, you can install packages from my Ubuntu ppa: https://launchpad.net/~mzanetti/+archive/testing

If you are using another distribution you have to compile it yourself for now. Send me an email with informations on your distribution if you can't manage to compile it yourself.

Cool. If you're using Ubuntu, you can install packages from my Ubuntu ppa: https://launchpad.net/~mzanetti/+archive/testing

If you are using another distribution you have to compile it yourself for now. Send me an email with informations on your distribution if you can't manage to compile it yourself.

:( unfortunately I am on Fedora 18 as of now. I tried installing all the dependencies and then running the binary executable from the package, but I cant fing qt5quick.so and qt5qml.so for fedora . I found all other libs.

Use cmake to compile the plasmoid. If you're using qmake from Qt5 you will compile the ubuntu app.

Code:

git clone git://gitorious.org/xbmcremote/xbmcremote.git
cd xbmcremote
mkdir build
cd build
cmake .. -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/usr
make
sudo make install

Now execute "kbuildsycoca4" and you should be able to add the plasmoid to you panel.
