Re: Nemo mobile discussions
There is no way for me to close the settings! Also the standby-screen tells 1. Jan. 1970! What happened to the swype-to-taskswitcher function? WLan still buggy...
|
Re: Nemo mobile discussions
It never was. You have to swype it and then close it when it is minimalized.

Re: Nemo mobile discussions
I don't have bluetooth. Also, I cannot change between the 2 available themes nor can I change the wallpaper.
Lastly, I'm guessing Nemo/Meego CE are not gpu-powered, right? Will they use gpu acceleration in the future? I hope so. It's the only way to become "usable". |

Also note that if you really don't like the UI, you can easily write one from scratch yourself and show you can do a better job, see for instance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OeTOXaJiHTY |

(please file bugs if they don't exist already, fwiw, otherwise they won't get noticed) The wallpaper issue is already tracked as https://bugs.nemomobile.org/show_bug.cgi?id=434 Quote:
Anyway, to answer your question, yes they are: they won't work without GPU acceleration. I'm guessing you're asking this because you're seeing something that appears slow, so can I ask you to file a bug, including what hardware you're running on, a description of what you can do to reproduce, and also take a look in 'top' and see if anything looks out of place - and include info in the bug. Thanks! |
Re: Nemo mobile discussions
Thanks for the reply!
yes, I know those "problems" have been mentioned. I am not complaining or anything. : ) Yes, I know Meego CE's last update was the fall 2011. It's Nemo OS now. Really? It uses the gpu? I thought it didn't because of ,you know, some struggles here and there. "Top" gives normal readings. Of course I'm not the expert here. If you say Nemo is gpu-accelerated, I believe you. *As for the bluetooth, it says "bluetooth adapter not found" iirc. It has already been filed as bug afaik. thanks again. I am very curious to see how Nemo progresses on the N900 : ) *I miss the old homescreen tbh. I hope it returns in the future (though it seems unlikely (?) as Meego clearly "dislikes" homescreens) : p |
Re: Nemo mobile discussions
Ops I forgot!
Does "double tap to unlock" works for you guys? For me sometimes yes, sometimes no. |

I have installed Nemo in eMMC btw. By saying it's behaving slow in some situations... it varies. I mean it's totally understadable. Noone said Nemo is ready for everyday use. Sometimes, it will struggle to open an application, or even worse freeze. SOmetimes double tap to unlock won't work etc Quote:

Re: Nemo mobile discussions
Just re-parition your N9 to stock partitions and nemo will disappear...Oh and you'll have to do a full flash to get back to stock kernel and normal mode from open mode...

Re: Nemo mobile discussions
Small update of some recent work:
We now have the ability to filter the contact list, thanks to niqt: http://qtl.me/20121001-122720-rot.png The contact card also got a bit of an overhaul. http://qtl.me/20121001-122906-rot.png Instead of the 193571 buttons (multiplying exponentially the more you add to a contact), there's just a few. If you tap the call button, for instance, if you have multiple numbers, it'll ask you which one to use. I wouldn't call it final, but it's a lot nicer than it was :) Messaging/SMS integration now works too (meaning if you tap SMS/message, it'll switch to Messaging and actually do things!) - thanks to special. |

While it is a nice idea to simplify, what if I need to read a contact's number to someone (while there's just one, so nothing will pop up when I try to call), copy it to an e-mail, compare two numbers etc.? |
Re: Nemo mobile discussions
Yeah, compare things (and what i sorely miss on Maemo) duplicating a contact...

By the way, is it by design that I can't swipe an app's splash image away? Helium and AppsforMeego are the two worst offenders here with obscene startup times (both apps are snappy once completely loaded, though) On Harmattan, you can swipe away an app's splash/placeholder image. |

But speaking of gestures, you remind me that gestures will soon (hopefully!) animate as your finger moves. The animation won't start once you take your finger off the screen like it does now :) |

Ah, there's also some more I missed:

Re: Nemo mobile discussions
I've just installed Nemo for N900 (2012.08.31 image) and it seems there is no way to add a wifi hidden network.
When I select "hidden network" in the list of detected access points, I fill the three fields (name, passphrase and ssid), then click "done", but after refreshing the access point list, my network does not appear. Does any body experience the same issue ? |
