Quick Reply
Leave your lists as they are you should get a update icon in the status bar.
I have not checked but Smaemo6 may not be in the repo's I updated before the move.

Re: [Announce] CSSU stable release

Hello,

I just installed CSSU today and noticed that my installed version is 4.1 not 6
checking http://repository.maemo.org/communit...-community-pr/ i found that indeed the last version there is 4.1

my question is , is this repo obsolete now and i should change it? or its a temporary thing and will be fixed after a while

Thanks

Re: [Announce] CSSU stable release

Thanks man but when i check for updates i get version 4.1... Is it a problem linked with the migration? Do i have to reinstall CSSU?

Re: [Announce] CSSU stable release

After checking with merlin1991, the repo maintainer for all maemo stuff, during the migration Nemein didn't do a complete sync hence CSSU Stable after 4.1 is missing and hence you don't see an update.

The recommended course of action till the repos are fixed, merlin1991 still doesn't have full access to them, is to disable the Community repository from Application Manager and add a Mirror in place.

The first mirror to add is:
Code:

Catalogue Name: Community - Mirror 2
Web address: http://maemo.merlin1991.at/apt-mirror/community/
Distribution: fremantle
Components: free non-free

Then do the update; if the above mirror works fine you are set. If it doesn't then the next best course of action is to upgrade only to CSSU-Stable 5 not 6 like the above due to the below mirror not containing above CSSU-Stable 5.

Code:

Catalogue Name: Community - Mirror 3
Web address: http://skeiron.org/repo/repository.maemo.org/community/
Distribution: fremantle
Components: free

Now do the update and you should get CSSU-Stable 5.

Thank you for your suggestions...very helpful!

I disabled Community and added Mirror 2 per your post....catalog list refreshed OK in HAM....but I do not see any CSSU update notification...

Does it take some time before getting the notification?

Re: [Announce] CSSU stable release

i too cant update using mirror two
the mirror appears to be synced http://maemo.merlin1991.at/apt-mirro...-community-pr/

but apt-cache shows that the latest version is 4.1

You mean that it is the same situation with using the maemo.org repositories?

I've been getting far more "internal error, application closed" (Conversations and Phone) since installing update 6. Could it be related to modest, which was updated in update 6 and which I don't use, as suggested in this thread?

Any volunteer for updating CSSU stable changelog on https://wiki.maemo.org/Community_SSU/ChangelogStable?
Missing info about 21.2011.38-1Smaemo5 and 21.2011.38-1Smaemo6 releases.

Mine won't reboot after I type "root; reboot" in X Terminal. It shuts down but won't boot back up. I've recently reflashed and reinstalled CSSU.

Do you have kernel-power installed? It used to be a known issue with kernel-power afaik, but I'm not sure if it still is, not using "reboot" over here...

I do have KP52, but I had it before the reflash as well, and it would reboot fine every time (and of course I did have to reboot many times over the months/years ;) )

Also, while I'm here, is it normal for CSSU configuration editor to report some features missing even though my CSSU is up to date (and I have not edited my transitions.ini since reflashing and reinstalling CSSU)?

If you're talking about "CSSU Features" application then I think some of the options are only supported in CSSU-Testing and here we're talking about CSSU-Stable.

Re: [Announce] CSSU stable release

If it matters, the difference is that this time around (after reflashing) I installed KP52 first, then CSSU. Also, the first attempt to install CSSU did not work - the Community SSU icon did not appear in the applications - but restarting the process got me through the end. Sorry for the piecemeal report.

Re: [Announce] CSSU stable release

some questions from a cssu stable user:

-does the Orientation Lock applet in the Status Menu really lock the orientation of the apps? tried to use MicroB with Orientation Lock enabled (lock in landscape), when rotating the phone in Portrait the webpage stays Landscape but MicroB goes in Fullscreen mode (as usually do when page rotate in portrait) so maybe some changes happens anyway due to accelerometer?

Similar behaviour with apps Nelisquare and Tweetian. Orientation Lock in Landscape active -> Apps rotating anyway from Landscape to Portrait

If no Orientation Lock active, those apps rotate in Portrait in a bad way...rotating like 180° instead of 90° and the view is cut.

Solution for Nelisquare is to add the app in the cssu black list (no force rotating) and then set "Portrait" or "Landscape" instead of "Auto" in the Orientation settings of the app

-any plans to add the new features, already tested and working in cssu testing, to the stable version? if no, is it safe to upgrade from stable to testing without flashing?

Thanks for patience

Yes, it does lock the orientation of most applications, however, it depends on how the application is coded to rotate.
MicroB still rotates and you can use the option in it's settings to switch this off. I believe this is a small bug in stable version of MicroB that is fixed in a later version.

Blacklist and forcedrotation method was designed for testing and not general use, it may cause some applications to do silly things.

Yes and Yes
CSSU-Stable will always be the "stable" CSSU version, nothing will go into stable without it being tested. Hopefully there will be a update shortly.

You can migrate to testing but you can't return to stable without reflashing. Be prepared to report bugs and expect the occasional issue at upgrade time. Not recommended unless you are willing to file bug reports.

is this still supported? because i went from testing to stable as for now my n900 is my primarily phone

Re: [Announce] CSSU stable release

Yes it's still "supported"
You can't go from Testing to Stable without Reflashing

thanks for reply i meant i reflashed than installed stable but without emmc flashing so most of my user files are kept.

to support sixwheeledbeast's, yes I am currently looking onto fixing my scratchbox installation and will upgrade stable as soon as I figured out what is the problem with my current install (this may take some time due to holidays and stuff but I am really looking into upgrading stable)

stuff not in stable is not in stable because there is no freedom of choice eg camera does not have a chosable alternative but to use testing or nokia but no either or solution

That's great to here.

I'd be happy with some of the important fixes.
Personally I can think of

*Certificate fix for A-GPS
*Bugfix for hildon-deskop (rotating the wrong way when using Qt apps)
*policy-settings-rx51 0.4.10.8+0m5 (so OMP's headset button works)

What problem are you having with it? Might be able to suggest a few ideas.

Re: [Announce] CSSU stable release

hi all, sorry for this basic question.
what is difference http://wiki.maemo.org/Community_SSU and http://wiki.maemo.org/Community_SSU/Thumb ?
I've just reflash my phone.
I tried to install Community SSU and then CSSU Thumb.
But it didn't work after I tried to install CSSU Thumb (boot looping).

Am I only allowed to choose one between Community SSU and then CSSU Thumb?
Any basic explanation is apreciated, because I couldn't find explanation about this in wiki.
Thank you.

If you read that wiki page and the links within it explains your questions.

I can only assume you have some how managed to install thumb without the errata workaround kernel.
If this is correct you will need to flash the device again to fix your boot loop issue.

There are currently three options...
Stable (for end-users)
Testing (for long term-testers and devs)
Thumb (thumb compiled version of testing)

If you are not sure please stick with CSSU Stable you can always upgrade in the future when you understand better.

Finally put CSSU on my phone today. Was a bit confusing on how to get the rotation and stuff going but once I figured it out everything else was pretty straight forward. She's running pretty sweet.

Just want to say I'm really appreciating your work! Keep it going guys.
