Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
I think you have to flash with the same pr legacy of 341...
Maybe your carrier has locked it so you have no choice but to use pr legacy 341 for pr1.3 to flash... |
Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
There is no PR1.3 for my Variant :(
That's why i was trying to flash other FW According to the first post i can upgrade my N9 and change the variant, i want to do this: "PR1.2 variant 341 to PR1.3 variant 001" i dont know why it doesnt work. Is this considered a downgrade? |
Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
It isn't considered a downgrade...Its just some carriers try to lock users out...
Anyway I think what we can do is flash both rootfs+emmc at one go...Maybe then it would go thru... |
Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
Just a quick question. I flashed non branden ROW Firmware PR1.3 a couple of days ago, but only .bin file.
Do i have also flash emmc file also, and what is this actually. Thanks |
Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
tried to flash my Nokia N9 with my MacBook by running (as user):
Flasher -F fw.bin -F emmc.bin -f and got: FIASCO ERROR: FIASCO subimage data length mismatch any idea? EDIT: could it be that the renaming emmc image to emmc.bin is the cause? (Flasher -F fw.bin -f is working properly) |
Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
Zelig,
It means your fw image is corrupted and not downloaded correctly... If your fw.bin flashes ok it means your emmc.bin is corrupted... Re-downloade it and try... |

Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
Hi!
I've got my N9 in Russia on 21.9.2012 (Product code is 059J208).It came with PR1.1. Same evening I performed an update to PR1.3 via WiFi and everything was OK untill last wednesday, where it rebooted by itselfs and showed "there is a problem with your SIM card" message. It makes no difference, whether or not the SIM is inside of the phone, but if it is inserted, the SIM Module gets warmer after short time. IMEI number doesn't show by *#06# or in "about product". Flashing (only OS) didn't change that issue. May be someone can help me. Tnx in advance Andy |
Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
chaveago,
Did you ensure your sim card isn't inserted when flashing? |
Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
Yepp, I pulled it out as I realized that it gets warm. The phone wasn't flashed yet.
|
Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
So now try doing the flash with the sim removed?
Post the output here of your flash so that it can be ensure your flash indeed went successfully... |
Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
Is there any options for flashing on a Mac? My windows PC died so I'm stuck with this Mac for the time being but I need to flash my phone to rid myself of Faster Darker Better.

Why do you need to flash to get rid of faster darker? Use RD mode to do so...

That is worrying...I think your emmc partition is faulty...
Maybe try using another PC? |

Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
Big thanks to itsnotabigtruck!,
I managed to get my N9 stuck in 'boot loop'. After a lot of trawling, I came across this guide. Well written, easy to understand and best of all, my phone is now working again! My previous phone was a Nokia N8, I found the process with Phoenix was complicated and not always reliable. Flasher.exe - Simple! Thanks again, for your time and effort compiling this guide! You have two choices: - wait for the release (e.g. it seems recently a Swiss variant came out) - go for flashing, in which case I'd recommend to use the more general ROW (rest-of-world) version |

Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
Hi guys,
my N9 is already on 40.2012.21-3 (PR 1.3). Current firmware: RM-696 Country Variant Australia AU Black V1 059L698 Can I change it to this firmware?: RM-696 NDT UK IRELAND BLACK 059J1Z7 Regards Markkyboy |
Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
Nope.
"RM-696 Country Variant Australia AU Black V1 059L698" is using variant 009 (i.e. flash file is DFL61_HARMATTAN_40.2012.21-3_PR_LEGACY_009) while "RM-696 NDT UK IRELAND BLACK 059J1Z7" uses basic variant 001 (similar file name, but it ends with _001) 001 < 009 so flash would not succeed (flasher tool would consider it a 'downgrade' and it would not allow it) |

Version of 'sw-release': DFL61_HARMATTAN_40.2012.21-3.342.01.1_PR_342 ROW FW is pr legacy 001 hence it fails as downgrading isn't allowed even within the same fw version (pr1.3)... |

Hi, I've got a N9 which shows the yellow warning triangle telling me that I have changed the software.
I have now tried re-flashing (on several computers) using this guide but it gives me an error message. Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
Take it easy, don't jump at ones on fllashing the device, but first install the pcsuite software and just insert your phone on one of USB ports and select as syncronising device and let it instal the phone device driwers and after is finish installing pull USB out few sec then put it again on the same USB port but select as Storage driver, and let it install drivers...then prepare your fllashing operation.
I might guess..that your phone allready was fllashed with "zimage" for nitdroid that's why you are getting the warning on screen, weell fllashing it again it will vipe that duo boot...but is up to you... I see by the product version...you are atempting to update, and local version is 001 as you see on firmware file...don't use higher value than that. Try this way...to make it easy fllashing your phone, maybe you should make dir in c:/nokia and install fllash in there and import your firmare.bin in that c:/nokia/fllasher and in comand line on dosbox-win enter like this: c:/nokia/fllasher/fllasher.exe -f -F c:/nokia/fllasher/firmware.harmatan_001.bin and turn your phone OFF. I did fllash my phone by turning on instead bcz pc could not find my phone few times...so it might happen to your phone to...so try borh ways...but careful do not disconect cable if pc and phone are active and operating fllashing or transfering files! |
Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
Yikes  it looks like another of those N9s with dodgy flash memory...

Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
Thanks AN9 and THEDEAD1440!
Unfortunately it seems that it is a hardware issue. I have tried and tried but no success. Is there any possibility to install a kind of "basic" software? I don't really have anything to loose now. |
