The LIRC project was created for (and, for the most part, is still used by) folks who wanted to grab a random remote control, point it at their PC, and have the PC do something. For that purpose, the LIRC config file is very well constructed -- you can throw one together with minimal effort (even if you don't understand the protocol being used by the remote control), and since you don't really care about other remote controls or devices, you only ever need the one config file. I don't think what I'm doing would really be of interest to these folks... But yeah, I do think that Pierogi could potentially be useful on other similar devices. :) |

In fact IR is coming back with a vengeance. Both the HTC One and Samsung GS4 sport an IR port and I think I saw one from LG if I am not mistaken. With Qt having now official support on android your universe just got bigger :)

Re: [Announce] Pierogi - a universal infrared remote control app
thnx for the update!
I tried the MT-Logic keyset (and even the Dune one)... and the results: no luck.. :( I have a Nintendo Wii U, the Wii U has also an IR port. you can use it as a remote control. At the remote control settings from the Wii U, I can select the MT-Logic brand. It has 2 keysets in it, both don't work. So it seems like it's a new keyset?... (what about the NEC code?) I'm totally lost... |

There is one more option -- you could reverse-engineer the original remote control yourself, if you're up for that kind of thing. I know that the LIRC server can do it fairly easily, if you've got a PC with an infrared receiver. (Most "media PCs" and most modern Macs have them these days.) This is, in fact, how most LIRC files are generated... |

Re: [Announce] Pierogi - a universal infrared remote control app
Hello Copernicus!
I'd like to share some user experience with you. I've got two old CRT Samsung TVs. And mostly, the TV keyset one works well. But, I am able to select AV as an input source, but unable to revert back to coaxial antenna. Also I'm able to use teletext, but unable to go back to TV. On the original remote controllers, it's the same button. Pressing txt button only changes the backgroung from black to transparent. Can you do anything? Also, I see you've added air conditioners. Please add a Thomson keyset if you can. Thank you for your great app! (I've got a Thomson universal remote controller too, and it's able to switch between tv/av.) |

I ended up hardly ever using the thing. Heck, even if you could download the info in the remote, I suspect Logitech would sue you or something. As you can tell, I'm not a real fan of the brand... |

I'll see if I can find some more Samsung files. (BTW, can you give me the model number(s) of the TVs? That might help.) Quote:
