For anybody who ordered recently and is wondering (like I was), I ordered 09/12/2009 22:00 and just got status change to ready for despatch. So it looks like they have caught up with all the preorders and are not far off up to date with recent orders. Sounds like I may get mine tomorrow, or should be by Monday.

When I was a postie, Special Deliveries were made on Saturdays, just not guaranteed to be, and van drivers took anything the size of a shoe box and bigger (but this depended on how nice your van driver was - got lumbered with some bigguns to walk about with on several occasions). Rest assured though if yours gets stuck in a delivery office over the weekend, it should be safe with Special Delivery because it is tracked at every part of its journey and is kept locked away separate from normal mail.

I will hopefully have a 'tried to deliver whilst you were out' note waiting for me when I get in.

Can you go and pick items up from the post office / sorting office on a saturday morning with this note?

Does the N900 from MPD on vodafone come unlocked or is it locked to vodafone?

Also does GPS work well?

Does any one have a good document editor yet?
(excluding online google docs and other web based services)

How hard is it to get programs and games for the N900?

How reliable are the programs generally including the ones that are in testing?

1 Unlocked - all current N900's are

2) Yes, works fine, tried it in Ovi (very good), Twitter location updates etc, all fine

3) Programs - easy - not a huge amount but coming thick and fast (Only been around officially a few weeks!)
Games - erm.... Any flash website? lol :) :) - but tehres about 10/15 games on the apps links and extras available at the moment

4) I've not had one lock up yet in any testing or normal application. The only jitter is multitasking between open movies, can be a few seconds, the rest is almost instant :)

Yes most delivery offices are open till 1230 as far as I'm aware on Saturday. Shame you have to leave collection till next day these days because they are so slow getting the parcels back to the office - not like the good old days when the target was to finish delivering by 0930!

My delivery office closes at midday during the week and 9.30 on a saturday! :mad:

I normally don't have trouble picking the parcels up the day after they were attempted to be delivered.

Just had the email from Vodafone which must be a good sign, says that my contract started yesterday so I'm hoping that the phone is close at hand, it would be good to collect tomorrow if it has been delivered today!

If I ordered yesterday and it said pending stock, now it says ready for dispatch, will it arrive tomorrow, do they do Saturday delivery.

They do do Saturdays, but "probably Monday" is a safer bet.

walked into the shop and a swapped it for a new one :) to be fair to the shop the were boxing at least 50 of them up. they said MPD / Nokia retail had pre orders of 1480 and they were sent 250 of them.

Just ordered mine today at around 1pm. Looking at this thread though, I am not hopeful of receiving it anytime soon, even though the site says next day delivery, it also says upto 5 days on the n900 page. Oh well, atleast I have it ordered now.

More frustrating having it ordered though.

Blimey I got it. It's a riddle to me how they managed to sneak to the door and leave the red notification card without having been seen or heard by anyone..anyway, I just picked up the holy grail from the post office. Haven't switched it on yet since I'm at work but it does charge alright. it's a bit heavier than I thought and the feel of the keyboard sliding is not as
up-market as I would have wished it to be...but altogether it looks very promising. I hope it's not a red herring.

Most Post offices will have it the same day - all it needs is for the guy to get back and unload, so normally by 2/3pm will suffice :) - they leave 48 hours on the card incase something goes wrong :)

Got it today and playing with it after charging it.

Any idea how to exit the blank screensaver without opening the physical keyboard? Tapping the screen does not seem to exit the screensaver.

Sliding lock on the right hand side :)

edit - power button i think brings up the slide unlock

Man, that makes me think it's not gonna be here till atleast thursday now, suppose it's not too much of a big deal though as this contract I have atm doesnt run out till Jan.

I just want it in my hands so I can play, as I don't get to play with xmas presents till xmas day :(

ordered 1st december, received despatch email yesterday, fully expected to come home to a 'collect from depot' note, but it seems my wife was in when they delivered. sweet as.

Sorry, should have been clearer, they don't continue to play like in the Youtube demo's....

But they do lag a bit as they have a movie open, so i assume memory hungry maybe? - after a few seconds its fine.
