i use just 3 desktops and its very simple but very useful desktops, many thanks for all maemo.org members for helping me doing such useful desktops.

Okay, as I have mentioned before, I am now developing scripts that can be used to save desktop arrangements as themes that can be installed/exported as necessary.

So far I have been able to export the icon/widgets and their positions, desktop wallpapers, and no of desktops. I have not yet been able to restore QBW properly nor have I tried to restore the individual widget settings.

Now, I have only tried this on my device by changing my arrangements and then restoring them. So I want your help now. I am attaching a file below (save.zip). Download and unzip it to your device and pls run it from xterm as

EDIT: Thanks to mrsellout and corduroysack, I have got two desktop-themes to check and make modifications to my script. I will release a more completed version with ability to apply themes soon.

it's a nice idea to make a script for backup/restore hildon desktop but you kinda forgetting about something here...this script only works on our phone only not other phone who wanted to use this script...
you have to understand not all QBW,wallpaper,themes & etc on my desktop is the same on yours...
example my QBW have different icon for different applications...if any other member use my script without having the proper icon the QBW is worthless...now this is the same for wallpaper & themes...might be i have a themes that you havent install on your phone...using your idea of script will make a mess afterward on someone else desktop later on...other member would have install something they didnt wanted to install on their device just to make the script works...

After a few "showoff" :p desktop i decided to return back to what i love the most...
yes i love a combination of Black-White-Red on my desktop....so this is my latest evolution desktop :D

My simple desktop for two months now. Nothing really special, not much, but I love it!
I use as less widgets as possibles, so the battery lasts longer. Have the defaults shortcuts.
805 Mhz is minimum and maximum blocked to 805 with smartreflex 1vdd1 and vdd2 on 1
1000 Mhz is minimum and maximum blocked on 1000 without smartreflex (due to the reboot problem)
fm on and off is to quickly turn on and off the fm transmitter.
I have only an other desktop with few games for my children to play quickly.

ANALYSIS
While creating the script, I forgoot about backing up the QBW images so all the QBW widgets now dont have images. So that has to be done.
Secondly, can you post here the rest of the desktops? Coz out of 8 desktops, one of them is completely empy. Was it filled with contacts? My script does not save/restore contacts for obvious reason.
Then the icons and fonts. I think what can be done for this is, the app should store the name of the icon-set/theme/font used and ifit is available in the destination n900, it should apply. Else, maybe it should give an option to download it? What does everybody think?
Finally, the individual widget settings like for qflipclock, email, calender, rss etc. This is think i will do only stage by stage and is not a priority.

Have I missed anything?

yeah one screen is completely empty it's the screen that i use to try out qbw. A lot of my fonts are ones i have added but by the results it's looking really good it's definitely a must have. i will zip up the other screenshots and mail you them :)

dear bigears5000 did u use quick widget ( qml ) for some player widget, or use qbw.
if u use qbw may I ask the code cause i had bad experience with quick widgets it hook the cpu up to 90%

As long as you are careful with the timer intervals this shouldn't happen. I haven't seen it yet.

I have used both qbw and qml quick widgets. The someplayer title is qbw to open someplayer, and the media controls are also qbw. The album art and also the track info, are both quick widgets. Trouble is, I have to reflash my phone tonight because of a corruption problem. If you need any commands, let me know.

perhaps i just asked about media button for qbw if not to bother.
the first one whom make me confuse with toogle button.u know how to put image play and pause. thougt better to know all.

Not quite sure if I have understood you correctly, but here is a link to the queen beecon commands for someplayer. For the play/pause toggle, just put the play and pause icons you want to use in the .images/queen beecon directory. updated my first desktop, i think this is final for a few months

added a temp and a ram widget (now i don't need system info widget :D)
also a small uptime widget with my phone's icon in it :p

and if you tap on wifi widget, opens all connections availables

notes widget: it displays the latest note and if you press the fold opens it in osso-notes

white dock at botton: need some ideas here, i dont like using docks, so i was thinking about a notification area (aka, new sms, missed call, ssh status, updates available, others (?) ) would be great if scroll between all that info, looks like a hard work

just media player here, displays title, album, artist and album art, if you tap on cover opens the mediaplayer

so guys, what you think, i need some ideas to complete the empty spaces :p


EDIT----------------------------------------------------

i attached the media player widget, it uses the default media player or open media player.
you also need the mafw-trackinfo, without it, this widget won't work, so thanks to this guy here

import all instances, copy the images to the queen_beecon_folder, and replace the id's of your widgets in the mediabutton instance, rearrange as you wish :D
