is a USB internet adapter possible?
 

I've gotten my 4GB flash drive to work on my n810 by putting the device into host mode and also using a female to female usb adapter. But when i tried using a usb wifi adapter (Belkin wireless G, F5D7050) it kept telling me it didn't support the device.
I was not using a usb powered hub, and i also believe that i'd need to install the drivers for it to work. I don't know if i can just take the linux drivers and load them on the n810 if it work or not, nor do i know how to go about doing it.
BTW im just curious if the adapter will work better then the internal one or not.

Can anyone maybe tell me how to go about doing this, or if its even possible?

Since the device already has WiFi out of the box, what would be the point?

Plus, sometimes wifi is not available but lan is.

There are threads on this subject elsewhere in the forum; what you want is possible and at least one poster has explained how.

I doubt such an adapter would be either of these things, since the present chip is integrated, does not require an external serial bus, and has highly optimized drivers written by the device manufacturer. Incidentally, my wireless connectivity with the device has been impressive, especially compared to other pda-class devices.

But, if you can find a driver for it, give it a shot.

not all wireless devices were created equal, besides if I learn how to make something like this work I can use it for other things too.

Also after finding out someone has already gotten this to work i completely read through every article that came up on the search and found it.

Now to read up on .ko files and/or other kernals. If someone can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it, so far im not having luck finding anything.

No, you're right, there's no source. I suppose I'm guessing it would be the case after a few iterations of the device.

I've found that the chipset in my usb wifi adapter was a zydas (spelling) so i looked for the drviers, ended up taking the .ko file off my ubuntu distro. before I try insmod or modprobe, can someone confirm I might be going about this the right way? I'd hate to wreck anything.
Sorry, but the other guy didn't give specific instructions for this chipset and I don't know if you need a specially written kernal module for the n810 or what.
The file I have right now is zd1211rw.ko

no, you cannot use the .ko file from your desktop linux. The desktop runs x86 code and your tablet has an ARM processor. They are not binary compatible.
