Internet access problem N800 + Moto V3xx
 

Hi guys,

The problem:
Last month I got my V3xx which has a very nice 3g connectivity. I tried to pair it with my N800 and it worked fine. I can transfer files via bluetooth without any problems. Then I wanted to go online and used the assistent.
I am from Austria and am a customer of DREI (Hutchinson 3g). It is called 3web by the assistent.
The settings are(sorry I just translate all from german to english):
Paketdata
Access Point: drei.at
Number: *99***1# (also tried other numbers like *99# and *2# at the end
User: empty
Password: empty
No proxy
Auto IP and DNS

These settings seem to work quite fine with a normal Bluetooth USB Dongle but for some reason the N800 cannot connect.
When I choose the connection it tries to set up a bluetooth connection and the v3xx shows that there is some kind of bluetooth activity. But without showing any reason that N800 says that it fails to connect. This message is shown soon(maybe to soon) after the v3xx has the bluetooth activity. The V3xx is set to automatically accept DUN. Bluetooth is always on and the bluetooth options are very poor.

With my SE w950i the connection works without any problems so my OS and the bluetooth connection seem to work.

Thanks to everyone who can give me a hunt or just took the time to read this post.

PS: With google I found posts from people with the same problem(not at itt) but no one has a solution.

EDIT: OS2008 but I don't think that it is a OS problem

Maybe I can use it the same way with the N800 but I don't really know where I have to fill the settings in. And which AT commands are essential?

v3xx v3x v360 motorola phone doesn't respect standart ...

I was never able to use bluetooth and my data connection throught my v360 with my n800, Palm TX ...

If you've setup the Phone to use drei.at try to figure out the CID from the phone.
The data accounts *should* be listed by CID number.
Let's say your data account is number #3 use this as phone number:

*99***3# (i.e. *99***<cid># where <cid> is the CID number)

on my SE phone I had to use the CID number to make it work.

The phone doesn't show the CID number...I tried from 0-10 but everything fails with the same problem.
Allthough I can't test it right now I'm quite sure the cable connection uses *99***1#...the moto phone software automatically sets up the connection @WINXP
And it works fine...At home I will look if there are some "special" settings at this connection but I think I did that the first time I tried to get it work.

Hi!

Well, when I had the first OS2008 beta Version on my N800, I could go online via Bluetooth / Motorola PEBL at first try.

After flushing to the released OS2008, now that I tried it, I cannot get it working. Deleted every connection and the bluetooth phone, created everything again, won't work.

Sure that doesn't help you, but we may increase the number of people now who cannot get internet connection working on OS2008 and Motorola phone. :-)

Yeah :D

Would be nice to know wether it is a problem with the Moto, DREI or the N800 settings.
As I said...it works via cable and also via bluetooth on the PC. And I actually have no way of getting my N800 online because there is no access point in range. And the free 1GB/Month just for browsing with the phone...no way.

So...Connection Details @ PC are:

AutoIP and DNS
No Proxy

But again...the N800 cannot connect with these settings. Any ideas?

EDIT: I attached the logs from the (working) modem init of the v3xx via cable. Any one knows where the N800 stores the logs for the connection?

I have an 810, a Motorola V3xx, and ATT's $20 Media Max plan. The V3xx teathers via bluetooth to both the 810 and my Powerbook. The parameters I used for the 810 might be useful to someone:

CONNECTION NAME: AT&T Internet
CONNECTION TYPE: GPRS
ACCESS POINT NAME : wap.cingular
USER NAME : WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
PASSWORD: CINGULAR1
DIAL-UP NUMBER: *99***1#

So the V3xx is able to establish an internet connection with the N8x0 but not for me...

I think/hope the logs of the N800 connection would help a lot...Anyone knows if there is one and where it is?
