Uplink
Can we run this game on n8x0?
|
Re: Uplink
Hmm,
System requirements 300 MHz CPU, 32MB RAM, 25MB hard disk, OpenGL-capable graphics card (only required by versions prior to 1.55) Source code is available but only on a developer cd that you have to buy, don't that will go down well... |
Re: Uplink
There's a game somewhat similar in concept to uplink called "endgame singularity" and there's a port ready to run on the N8x0s somewhere on this site :) It feels very similar but the plot is different.
I love uplink, I used to play it obsessively but I never got the hang of cracking LANs effectively so I gave it up :P I'd actually really love to play it on my tablet but I don't think that's possible. (legally). If you could find an Uplink clone that's OSS, then sure :) I'm all for it! |

Re: Uplink
Hey wow! I just found an open-source clone of Uplink :)
page with source is available here: http://home.as-netz.de/gblech/mylink/ Maybe someone can compile it and try it out? |
Re: Uplink
any news on this?

Re: Uplink
well... yes and no...
the game is written in pure perl and requires the Frontier and Tk modules. The frontier modules install cleanly, but Tk won't for whatever reason. I can run the game, but it stretches off the edge of my screen and I can't log in 'cause i can't see the options buttons. So in other words, it'll probably run, but it'll need work and tweaking of the source and unfortunately I know next to nothing about coding in Perl and I don't have a lot of time on my hands right now :/ However, it doesn't look like it would take too much effort if someone knew what they were doing |
