3G-to-Wifi
http://www.slashgear.com/huawei-d100...twork-0224894/
Just in case anyone was interested. It only works with 3 Mobile tho'... |
Re: 3G-to-Wifi
Another way is to use a 3G+Wifi phone with a software router like Joikuspot on S60 or its WinMo equivalent. I do it on my E51 just for fun sometimes :-)
|
Re: 3G-to-Wifi
Heh, I did the same thing with a USB dongle and a wi-fi router with USB 2.0 :D
|
Re: 3G-to-Wifi
JoikuSpot is essentially some kind of proxy IIRC.
If you can run the WLAN chip in AP mode its dead easy to do this with some firewall rules (NAT) provided the OS can do this. Nothing fancy about this... |
Re: 3G-to-Wifi
Here in Finland we have this thing called mokkula (3g usb dongle)
We can connect to internet whit mokkula many ways. PC being the traditional way. Similar device that 3 mobile has (Huawei D100): http://www.dna.fi/Yksityisille/Matka...lakkaD100.aspx Router that supports USB- and PC Card devices TeleWell TW-3G-USB http://www.telewell.fi/english/tuotteet2.php?tuote=16 3G OR Flash-OFDM list of devices http://www.telewell.fi/supported_hw.pdf Wippies HomeBox similar to FON (moded A-link ADLS box) http://forum.wippies.com/wiki/Homebo...stallation_ENG Still none of these are portable so mobile phone whit bluetooth or wlan is the best partner for Nit. Unless somebody figures out how to Nit could host Huawei e169 like many linux distross already do for example Ubuntu: http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-858032.html |

I think you'd be better using this. I've already been exploring this as an option, and so far it's been quite nice. :) |
Re: 3G-to-Wifi
So it's already the first half of 2009 where you live ? :-)

Re: 3G-to-Wifi
DIY PCEngines alix.6b2 AMD Geode, miniPCI express (e.g. for 3G), miniPCI (e.g. for WiFi), on-board serial (RS232) and 2x 10/100 ethernet. Nice boards, good price, low power for x86, and hardware cryptography (AES-128)

Re: 3G-to-Wifi
lol. Glad you think so texrat. As soon as they're available (in a few weeks I believe) I'm going to be putting in a request for one for testing. Should have my 2c available on my site shortly afterwards. Of course, I may have a nice preview of the unit even before then if they show up at CES like I expect them to.
