Bricked N800 - Looking for suggestions

Hi All, I've got a bricked N800 and looking for suggestions on how to revive. It started when I ran the device on battery to the point where the low battery warning came on. I plugged in the charger, the N800 indicated that the battery was charging and I paid it no attention until the next morning when I noticed the display was black. Without touching it, I noticed the white screen with blue Nokia name display and then disappear after a couple seconds. I tried to turn it on and saw the same screen display and then the screen went black. I tried turning it on again and again but nothing happened. I removed the battery, let it sit awhile, put the battery back in and tried turning it on and again saw the white screen with blue Nokia name display before it shut down after about 2 seconds. Tried turning it on again and nothing happened. Plugging in the charger gives no indication that the battery is charging. I tried two different chargers with the same result. I tried holding down the home key while pressing power and the same thing happened as before. Now, a few days later, I don't even get the white screen when attempting to power on, nor any indication that the battery is charging. Is it possible that a completely drained battery cannot be recharged by the device? Can the N800 be run by being powered from the AC adapter only without a battery installed? I'm running out of things to try, short of sending it in for repair (which may not be worth it). Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

No, it doesn't work. It always need a working battery, even on AC.

If you don't have a friend that can lend you a fully charged battery, you can either try to buy a new original battery (expensive) or you can look on ebay for sido batteries. They might not have the same capacity as an original battery but they usually come with a desktop charger (which might be handy if the charging circuit of the tablet is broken). I paid for a couple of batteries, the desktop charger, and usb cable and shipping around 10USD.
Of course, if the tablet itself is broken, those will be lost.
Note that "original" batteries on ebay are usually fake, so I prefer sido: at least they put their name on it and don't try to fool you.

1. Pull out battery not for a while but for 3-4 hours.
2. After that put battery in, plug the charger and *wait*
3. After 3-4 hours try to turn it on - with charger still plugged in.

Sounds like a bad battery.

@Den

Classic symptoms of power on/off enigma + completely discharged battery.

Like I said, it's the battery.

Not necessarily a bad battery, perhaps a fully discharged one that can be made usefull once again by following waz's advice...

Then if if that^ doesn't work I would concur with you Den. :)

Nobody has suggested making sure that you have no SD cards in the unit when you turn it on--just in case there's something odd about the SD cards that are making the N800 turn on (maybe go into fsck) and then flip out and go nuts and immediately power off on its own.

Might want to just simply make sure there's no SD cards or anything plugged into the USB slot the next time you turn it on, in case they're interfering.

A shorted battery won't allow enough current through the AC charger to boot.

They seem reasonably affordable these days.
