Kingston 8GB MicroSD

I just purchased the N810 and also read the Kingston 8GB MicroSC with a Mini adapter worked well. I ordered the Kingston * GB and it worked fine (did a backup, etc.) for a week and now when I turn N810 on it boots as far as the bar on the bottom and then hangs.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Well, I doubt it's the card, but if it is (which I've seen before), the best thing to do is pop out the card, power it off, power it on, and see what it does from there. If it still fails, you may need to reflash. And something like that could be caused by anything. It doesn't have to be just the card itself that caused it. I've bricked my n810 several times, and not for any reasons other than software or OS error. And a simple reflash fixed it.

Re: Kingston 8GB MicroSD

I have the Kingston 8G micro w mini adapter and use in N810 w 5.2008.43-7 ever since I bought them, 3 cards, and never a problem. That being said, it is just 3 points on a QA curve.

1) Take out the microSD from the adapter and re-insert. Probably do no squat as you can boot partially.

2) re-do the SDcloneboot, use anything you feel comfortable, I use this, thread #6, and it takes only 2-3 min and it wont touch your FAT partition, i.e, it will clone your internal flash OS and everything into the SD existing Debian partition, presumably ext2 partition. If not sure, do this,

xterm
sudo gainroot
df
and post results 1st before attempt,

Edit: I assume you are booting from the 8G SD card. If not, then, 1st thing to try is to simply remove the card from the slot and reboot and see how that goes.

good luck,

bun

dnafziger: The instructions are in the Maemo Wiki and depend upon your OS.

bunanson: He can't even get past the loading progress bar, so I doubt he'll be able to do that.

Re: Kingston 8GB MicroSD

You are correct. I was thinking OP is doing SDboot and can always revert back to flash boot.

Re: Kingston 8GB MicroSD

When i removed the KIngston card the unit seems to work fine. I have removed the micro SD from the mini a couple times and that does not seem to make a difference. I currently have the card out.
Thanks

Corrupted data on SD. Just reformat it and it should be fine.

Re: Kingston 8GB MicroSD

I formated the micro SD card on an XP PRO machine and i get the same results on my N810. The N810 works fine with the card out and when i install the card it hangs during the boot. Is there a way for me to format the card using the N810? Other suggestions?

Thanks
