N900 got Slashdotted

http://linux.slashdot.org/story/09/0...Undermine-N900

We know the story of carriers and the N900; but I was surprised how many people on Slashdot were not following the N900 news.

Nah. With the iPhone hanging around, I doubt few even knew of it.

What makes you say that?

just observing the kinds of comments that get insightful and similar...

maybe if it read "me like" rather then "insightful", it would make sense...

Oh I see. I thought you meant the moderation system itself, which personally I rather like. :)

No problem. :D

Personally I mostly appreciate that slashdot's comments differentiate between useful and funny comments. Sites like reddit/digg/etc have like 80% "funny" comments which get old quick. Though sometimes they can actually be funny, I'm reading the article to learn something, not be amused. ;) It's also nice to not get those 'comment graveyard' threads like on digg, hate those! But on slashdot in my preferences I can block the comments marked funny so I only get the useful information. (well at least information other people think is useful)

Re: N900 got Slashdotted

'Slashdotted' refers to 'the Slashdot effect'. I'm sure a N900 can get Slashdotted but that is not what you meant ;)

Actually I find the comments quite positive, and N900 & Maemo get coverage on Slashdot. See for example these 2 recent threads:

I think the N900 is the ultimate Slashdot phone. It's like it was designed for Slashdot readers.

Can you imagine a Beowulf cluster of those N900s? (Just make sure you have unlimited data plans)
