[Under consideration] Using N900 to Geotag pictures taken with a DSLR
While there are available multiple solutions for DSLR Geotagging, would it not be very convenient (and economical) to use the exiting equipment like the N900? This would eliminate need to carry (and purchase) a separate device.

If we had USB host mode on the N900 this would be SO easy (sigh) :(

Re: [Sandbox] Using N900 to Geotag pictures taken with a DSLR
I'm thinking that a EyeFi SD card with a simple software python server would allow the N900 to receive photos from the camera via EyeFi and geotag them (while acting as backend).
Anyone has a EyeFi card with a N900 that could test such software ? |

Snags:
* Eye-Fi PRO only, the others won't do * You'd still need a desktop PC to configure the eye-fi card * AdHoc mode is a real power hog |

I've been thinking about this as well. The easiest way would probably be to use the N900 as a GPS logger, which shouldn't be too hard to implement. Then, you can use existing software on your desktop to tag your pictures using the GPS log.

There were already a couple of GPS logger scripts for the N810, they should work even better on the N900 (as it seems its GPS actually connects :-).
