3G speeds with T-Mobile web2go?

hey guys, i was just wondering if i buy the tmobile web2go plan for $9.99 will i get the 3g or not?

They do have 30 day free trial, so i'm waiting to get the phone so i can get the unlimited web access for free, and then switch over to the web2go for $9.99, but just wondering if i'll get the 3g speeds or not.

Thank you,

Priyank

From my experience with the web2go, you're restricted to the sites you can access. I had the t-zone ($5.95) since 2007 and switched to the new T-mobile Even More Plus plan with the $9.99 web2go plan and suddenly, my N95 couldn't access certain sites. Whenever I tried, it is say "upgrade required". Even my Ovi GPS stopped working. I called the Customer service and was told that phone is smart phone so I need to upgrade to the $25 internet plan... I said no thanks: I want my old plan back --- $5.95 which ironically allows me to access ANY site I want. Now, I am enjoying my old data plan...

Yeah, to answer your question.... you'd be able to have the 3g wherever there is 3G network. In my area, there is no t-mobile 3G so I am just enjoying the basics at the moment. But you should have no problem accessing the 3G network regardless of your data package... however, you'd be restricted to sites you can access.

thanks for the info...so i guess if i wanna use the N900 to its full capabilities (browse whateva i want or anything like that) i should just get the unlimited data plan?

could you give me few examples of the sites that weren't workin with the web2go plan?

thanks once again,

Priyank

I could not access sites such as this one. Sites you can access includes cnn.com, espn.com and some of popular news sites. I recommend you give the web2go a try for the first months and if you like what you see, keep it. Otherwise, change the data plan to "total internet".

get the web2go and change the stock apn configured automatically by n900 to another called epc.tmobile.com and you are all free of proxies, this worked when I had a T-Zones and it is still working on my N95 and iphone with web2go now. I even tether to my laptop every once in a while with n95 and works like a charm, i know i know its edge but still something is better than nothing when you really need it.

thanks for the info. will give it a go once i get my hands on this damn device...can't wait nomore...less then a week :D.

i'm not that good with the computer/techy stuff...so hopefully i'll find my way around the phone to get to the settings to change the apn settings to epc.tmobile.com (unless if you or anyone else for that matter know of a step-by-step guide to do this)

thanks

Just bare in mind that you may risk being charged extra for using that apn.

Of course I've never been charged for using it, but very few has reported being charged for using that on "T-Zone". I hope your luck won't be as good as those "very few". If it is, go out and buy yourself a lottery ticket. :D

Lol, got you beat there, been running on that apn for two years now, lol. First on my crappy LG Viewty, then on my Samsung i900, I've yet to be charged.

But, I've read some freaky stuff where some individual did get charged for using it, but he must've been really lucky.

I'm just telling people because there's always a risk, even if it's really low.
