Sound with TVout?

Will TV hookup to the N900 be getting sound as well?
Because I noticed the cable it comes with is component video only - and since it uses up the same 3.5 jack on the N900, how will the TV get any sound?

What I want to do is play torrented movies on big screen TV.

Thanx

it comes with yellow red and white

yellow for your vids

red for your left(or is that right?) audio

white for your right(or is that left?) audio

those 3 go into your tv

while the 3.5 plug in goes into your n900

Re: Sound with TVout?

Isn't the cable composite video (one yellow plug ) rather than the higher quality, three plug component video?

Hope my tv still takes composite... haven't seen one of those since VCR days.

If the cable/jack interface is the same as the N95 (which I guess it is), the component cable is: stereo audio (red/white) and video (yellow). So yes you will get sound as well as video when plugging into your TV.

Yeah it's composite (analog) versus component (analog). But where do you live? I think even HDTVs being sold in America now still come with composite inputs..

Edit: changed component (digital) to component (analog) due to a correction

Both composite and component video standards are analog. The difference is that composite is SD and component can be HD. Since the resolution of the n900 is 800x480, it wouldn't really be able to output hd video anyway unless it output a much higher resolution than its native resolution. If it could have done that then it would have made a really sweet portable HD video player, but I guess they have to prioritize.

composite its fine for me, component out mean 480, 720, or some resolution that they want to expose, what mean that needs more procesor power, so that will take more batery juice.

I would also guess that there should be one. But if not, you also could use composite to scart -adapter where you can plug the video and audio easily.

if your tv takes SCART, it is all you need (and a scart connector with composite & aux in of course if you dont have one)
