Removing apps over USB
Hi
Is there a way to remove installed apps from the N900 while plugged in via USB? I'm on a machine running Ubuntu. |
Re: Removing apps over USB

Re: Removing apps over USB
You can remove applications from the application manager by selecting uninstall. You do not have to have any type of connectivity.
Depending on what kind of USB-connectivity mode you are using (charge, usb-storage or pc suite), it might affect application manager. But is it really necessary for you to keep your phone plugged at the same time you are trying to uninstall an application? |
Re: Removing apps over USB
You dont really have to connect using USB.
1. your machine running ubuntu (with internet i assume) 2. Nokia N900 install rootsh, openssh server (using wifi) 3. change your password using terminal on nokia n900 3. once you connect to the wifi in your home, you will be able to use ssh to go to your machine and do whatever you want example: dpkg --purge |
Re: Removing apps over USB
It would be nice to have PsiWin-type control over the connected device. I imagine it could be implemented by writing an app to run on the desktop and using sftp and ssh to send files and commands to the device.
Might be an interesting project :) |
Re: Removing apps over USB
lardman, you don't need any new apps, there is ssh and rsync for control and backup

I love script kiddies.... not. |
Re: Removing apps over USB
I ended up reflashing the firmware to solve the problem I had. I was playing with some extras-devel applications and one made it impossible for me to launch any applications. You gotta love the bleeding edge :D Luckily a new firmware update was just released ;)
