Application Manager shows wrong file sizes
When I go to the download section of the app manager and bring a list of applications up all the file sizes it displays next to each file are completely wrong. Most applications are displayed as being around 20MB in size. The applications install correctly and while the file is being downloaded it displays the correct file size in the progress bar. I've searched the bug database but can't find anything...anyone else seen this happen? I'm not completely sure but I seem to remember this started happening after installing and uninstalling freeciv, but that's just a guess...

Re: Application Manager shows wrong file sizes
how do you come to the conclusion that they're "wrong"?
packages usually install files in several places over at least two partitions, so checking the actual space in use can be a bit tricky. edit: sorry, i seem to have misunderstood your problem. if the size displayed in the app manager is different from what the package description says, there is indeed a problem. |

Re: Application Manager shows wrong file sizes
I've not noticed this myself, no.
There's a few separate sizes to think of - there's the size of the package itself, the size of any dependencies, and the total disk space taken up by the installed package (and dependencies). I'm guessing that app manager reports the installed size of the app and dependencies, whereas the download progress will report the package size (presumably with dependencies). |

Re: Application Manager shows wrong file sizes
To give you an example of the discrepancy the 'Helsinki Wallpaper' is shown as 21.8MB (if I click on 'details' just before download it also says 'Download size: 21.8MB) Yet when I actually do download it the progress bar shows it's actual size is only 3.42MB, which makes sense for what is basically 4 jpgs. All the apps are showing basically the same download size, give or take a MB or so. Looks like it's only me with this issue and a reflash would solve it, but I can live with it for now.
