Is it possible to use N900 with a larger external Touchscreen? Possible idea

I was just thinking it would be nice to have a larger screen/dock that I could put on my bedside when I'm charging the N900. So I have an idea, but just trying to verify if its likely possible before spending money on it.

I know that most touch screens monitors out there use USB for the interface which the N900 wont support. But what if you added a Bluetooth adaptor to the USB interface of the touch screen?

I was thinking of using a screen like this:
http://www.xenarc.com/product/700tsv.html

Its native resolution is the same as the N900. It has speakers built-in. I could easily fabricate a dock etc.. Main issue is if a bluetooth adaptor added on to the monitor would work with the N900.

What do you all think?

The operating system on the N900 would have to be configured to use the new screen. Apart from the debate of whether the accelerated graphics would work there is the Bluetooth speed issue and power drain to take into account as well. You then have to sort out drivers for the screen too. Summary: nice idea but don't think it is going to be either possible or worth the effort.

why would there be a power drain? The N900 would be plugged into the charger, and the video out would be plugged into the screen. Does the N900 not use accelerated graphics for its TV Out capabilities? Also that touch screen comes with Linux drivers. Wouldnt it be the same as using an external bluetooth mouse/keyboard. Same as how the PS3 six axis controller is being used?

The idea is excellent! What I would like to see in the future is a big touch screen into which you can dock the N900. But this would be a great first step. I don't see why it could not be made to work. If you can plug the touch screen into USB + TV-out, the only part left to be figured out is getting the touch screen input drivers working with the N900 X server.

The idea is to make something similar to the new Sony Dash Personal internet viewer. Except powered by the N900. Figure if I'm going to have my n900 charging on my nightstand, Might as well be able to access its features easily from a glance.

Here's the link to the sony Dash for reference:

Yo dawg, we heard you like touchscreens, so we put a touchscreen in your touchscreen so you can fingerscroll while you fingerscroll.

(Sorry, I know that was awful, but it was all I could think about after reading this thread.)

i have my n900 working with an o2 joggler (openpeak) running ubuntu netbook remix over vnc, works great with the touchscreen controls, just a little to laggy though to be useful but it works.

I have a 700 TSV and thought about this kind of a setup too. Unfortunately xenarc only provides pre-compiled binaries for their X11 display driver, and in i386 only. I'm going to drop them a note and see what they say about pre-compiled arm binaries, or releasing the source.
