Media player artist indexing
I have put 16 gig of music on my N900. When I go into album the full album is there, however in artist mode the album us broken up over 2 or 3 different albums. This is an indexing issue and I need to retag some MP3 files, however I dont know which part to edit - any ideas?

Re: Media player artist indexing
Have you tried just rebuilding the index? Sometimes I get that the tracker seems to fail to index a few files properly, but reseting it fixes it (and then screws up some other files...)

Re: Media player artist indexing
How do you refresh the indexing?

Re: Media player artist indexing
Open x-terminal and type
tracker-processes -r Then reboot your phone, open media player and wait a few minutes while it indexes everything from scratch. |
Re: Media player artist indexing
Tried this and still not working, something to do with which part of the MP3 its looking for - any ideas on which one to change?

Re: Media player artist indexing
i had the same problem ..... i downloaded a fee program called mediamonkey http://www.mediamonkey.com/trialpay then labouriously researched for the tags on each album but once done all was wicked with full album art .... for 16gig i reckon you got about 3 hours work to do.
its worth it though! |
Re: Media player artist indexing
Got a say N900 didn't do best job at first with my media library compared to Ipod touch and Zune HD, but with help of mediamonkey and about 2hrs of sorting everything out just as i liked it was worth it.
Now i have my 14-15GB of music in order on my N900 and on my computer :) |
Re: Media player artist indexing
Just checked and all the info is the same in each box, other than the song name - the artist, album etc are all exactly the same, however if I go to album its all in one album and go to artist it is split into 2 - so frustrating!

Re: Media player artist indexing
yeah mate mine were too but there must be something in the background thats fu*+$g it up ...... my only advice is try mediamonkey .....
...... why not delete all music off n900 .... then run the tracker-processes -r then choose one album that was messed up and run it through mediamonkey then add it to your n900 and see if it fixes it! thats what i did so i ran all my albums through media monkey and all was good! |
Re: Media player artist indexing
Just spent half an hour and I renamed the artist, as that seemed to be the issue, and it has worked!!!!!!!!!!!
Now need to go through the other errors and spend some time. How are you syncing the N900, through mediamonkey / mas transfer / media player? |
