T-mobile announces more hspa+ in more US metro areas
 

N900 users in the US who use T-mobile (isn't that like every US user, since AT&T doesn't support 3G at the N900 frequencies?) are about to get more bandwidth this year. No hard dates in the press release. But it ought to make it easier to justify an N900 in the US.

There will be several things that T-Mobile will need to do to make their service competitive to Clear Internet Service:

• Cost less than $40
• Do away with the 5 GB data consumption cap
• Go at least 6 Mbps down / 1 Mbps up
• Give bundling discounts to T-Mobile customers

...ummm:

* There are $10/mo and $25/mo. data plans for T-Mobile USA... depending on how you sign up.

* I don't believe that there is a 5GB cap on my plan...not an issue for me.

* 7Mb down/2Mb up network up and running in many areas (I've hit (3) in Philly, DC, Baltimore)

* I was paying $40/mo total for voice and data...half of my comparable AT&T plan, more than half of my Verizon plan.


However I though this info was available several months ago?

What is 3.5G? I thought it was HSPA+.

HSPA+ is evolved HSPA, basically a next version of HSPA which allows for higher upload/download speeds

HSPA+ is active (has been for a few months) on Route 128 near where it intersects with Route 2. (For those of you in the Boston MA area)

The reason I asked about HSPA+ is that my phone says 3.5G but I am not in the right area and I have one of the less expensive plans.
