N900 Serious Problem

I have had my N900 from the UK launch, and have been over the moon with it. I have installed OVI applications and ones that have been put in the tried and tested respository on here - playing it safe.
However, all of the sudden it tells me my memory is full and cannot receive SMS messages, yet my settings tell me I have 27GB memory free and 1.65GB free in the system memory. When I try to delete SMS messgaes it says delete, but when I press delete it stays there and the SMS remains.
IT has come to the point that I tried rebooting my system by removing the battery, but now it boots up, gets to the desktop and the only way I can describe it, green luggage labels appear as widgets, it hangs, then reboots again, and again.....

Please help, and I am a complete novice when it comes to systems etc.

Thanks

Sounds like you may need to flash mate.... Have you taken regular back-ups using the phone back-up facility on the device? And then have you transferred the back-ups to a secure location, ie; your PC? Along with your photos / videos etc?

If so then flashing might cure your woes. Although you will lose things like text messages.....

I haven't backed anything up, but to be honest, I dont mind. How do I reflash and is it eas to do.
The bugger keeps rebobooting, then to the desktop with green labels as widgets, then rebboting again. I can only turn off by removing the battery.
What causes this, as it was soooo great before.

i think you installed some non optifiled apps from devel.

in your application manager , click the top and catalogs and disable extra testing, extra devel, even extra .

then in xterminal do

"sudo gainroot" (assume you have rootsh installed)

apt-get clean

then reboot

Its not a serious problem in fact if you took 10 mins to search around you wouldnt have had to create this thread. This is a known common problem for alot of people.

Sorry Lucas, I did a search, but didn't delve into the threads too much. Is there away I can do this whothout losing my phone contacts.

Ronaldo, at present I cannot even go into the menu, let alone the application manager :(

Rebooted and got the main screen :)
It tells me calendar has failed :(
Ronaldo, haven't got rootsh installed.
How do I know which app has messed my system up? And how can I do a clean of my apps?
