Sunlight visibility amazing!
It's very nice and sunny today here in England..
Amazingly the N900 is totaly usable in the sun.. It must be that trasnslfective screen. I am enjoying poking fun at other people with less well equiped touch screens |
Re: Sunlight visibility amazing!
Just had the same experience whilst on a ciggy break here in Holland :)

Re: Sunlight visibility amazing!
I've noticed this quality recently as my good friend owns the HTC desire and he struggles horribly to use his phone in the light.
I guess HTC designed and sold the phone during a season when no reviewer/gadget site would notice this flaw :p (I'm not exaggerating, try using the HTC in actual light. You will be astonished) |
Re: Sunlight visibility amazing!
Agreed. I live in Texas and see a lot of sun, and am amazed how well I can see the screen even at the 2nd to lowest setting. All around I think the N900 screen is wonderful.

Sunny here in Finland too!
The screen sure is amazing! Just took a brake from recording music and went ouside to chill/fry and get my Vitamin D naturally for half an hour and could surf the whole time under direct sunlight. Works like a charm!!!! |
Re: Sunlight visibility amazing!
I noticed this a while back and can only emphasise it.
It's even easier to read in full sunlight than in the shades. I'll be spending some time in delhi soon, taking the n900 instead of my laptop, and it's great to know that indias sun will only enhance the readability of the screen. Hopefully it'll survive the heat, too :-) |
Re: Sunlight visibility amazing!
Many years(2001?) ago I had a PalmPilot m505 which did the same thing. Then manufacturers stopped making screens like this - I don't know why.
I'm glad Nokia are using it again - it's nice to sit in the back garden and check my email. |

It's great for taking photos :)

Re: Sunlight visibility amazing!
For me it's painful. In the Florida overcast it's hard to see. sunglasses on sunglasses off. Not a pleasent experience in useability for me.
In an emergency I could pull my shirt over my head and make a cell phone viewing tent, that would probably work. |
