Nokia N900 Won't install applications

whenever I try to install any app

I get the error message
not enough space in application memory

Even though whenever I click file manager/memory usage it says
I have 73mb available application memory

What should I do

Here are the results from
df -h
in command line

Re: Nokia N900 Won't install applications

I think the problem is rootsh being 97% used.

Read this:
http://wiki.maemo.org/Free_up_rootfs_space

EDIT:
Take note what it says on the top:
Some instructions here may cause serious problems. When unsure, see General precautions
Backing up your data is recommended. In case of trouble you might need to re-flash your device.

Re: Nokia N900 Won't install applications

When done that, show us the output from df -h again.

Re: Nokia N900 Won't install applications

Obviously it has not affected it at all.
Are you sure you did the commands _as root_?

You can also try this
Quote:

Remove unused dependencies

Run following command (has to be done as root)

apt-get autoremove

Re: Nokia N900 Won't install applications

yes i am running commands as root

before I type any command in

I type sudo gainroot

and I have just ran the command apt-get autoremove

I am still unable to install any apps

and I am given the same error
