Just watching TV and saw the latest Apple iTard commercial. This time is to market Facetime features out of the iPhone 4. Funny thing is, the fine print at the end of the commercial says "Facetime requires iphone 4 and a WIFI connection" but the ad has a pregnant woman visiting an obstetrician and show her husband the ultrasound.

So which Obstetrician offers free WIFI to their patients to make Video calls to their husbands? The last time I went to one, I had to switch my phone off as it apparently interferes with the ultrasound equipment. Seriously, Apple.. what sort of commercial is that?

Can't the rest of us just carry on making video calls that've been a fairly generic standard feature on most mobile phones for the past 5 years, please?

I cant watch youtube past the work filter, but if it's the same Sam Mendes directed spot that's been doing the rounds since the iOS4 launch then it's a terrific and beautifully shot advert. Some journalists were literally welling up at the combo of "When you're smiling.." playing and the two people communicating with sign language over FaceTime at the end :p

It's another example of the slick marketing that Apple excels at, and Nokia has still a little way to go :)

And pay its exorbitant prices?
Lower quality visuals?
Less configurability?

Can you even use it over wifi to avoid cell data costs?

Anyway, they're not the same. We need videocall 2.0 to 'compete' with FaceTime.

Might not think that facetime is that big a deal, but the advert is very well done and will appeal to the masses in a big way.
