Bookmark or Resume Function for Mp3's??
I've searched the forum and found only one post slightly related and it was buried in a much larger thread. So I apologize if I am repeating.
I was wondering if there are any apps that allow you to bookmark a long mp3 or resume from last position? I like listening to audiobooks and it would be nice not to have to cut the file into smaller segments on my pc prior to loading them onto my n800. Remembering my last position and fast forwarding through 5 hours of audio to get there gets old quick. Thanks. |

Amen. For those of us who listen to audiobooks, bookmarks or the like are essential.

Same goes for video. I would love to be able to stop a movie playback, and resume later.

Re: Bookmark or Resume Function for Mp3's??
I've written a quick and dirty audio player for podcasts and audiobooks that has resume functions. Adding bookmark functions and cleaning up the code a bit shouldn't be too hard:

Please post this also in Apps as soon as you get bookmarks working. If it works you will have made a lot of peeps very happy! Now to grab gPodder. |

Updated, Version 2: The player now includes a bookmark manager and improved user interface.

Re: Bookmark or Resume Function for Mp3's??
Well if you are willing to make some additional enhancements to the player, please, consider adding a sleep timer which will stop the playback and perhaps even suspend the tablet. This last one is probably not necessary as the OS will do it sooner or later. I am thinking in term "go to sleep in 15min, 30min, 45min, 60min, 120min..."
I need a safe guard that will stop the playback in a while in case I fall asleep during audiobook. Just an advice to anyone who has the same need: You can get around it by using the "shutdown" command in the XTerm console. I.e. start your player and type in the console a command similar to (without quotes): "shutdown +30". This example command will shutdown your tablet in 30 minutes. And thank you for your player. It is really filling a void. Now my last wish would be that Audible.com would port their player to the maemo. :( -- Best regards, Matej. |
