Well, Meego does require more memory than what the N900 has, but it's certainly very usable for the next phone (N0 or N950)

In any case, even with this lag, it 's good to have new features/choices ;)

It's totally impractical to use if something consume so much memory and processor clock just for graphically display the background processes.

It is unacceptable if you can't even use it on a slower device, which show that this UI is totally no good to use on a new device. Should you not required 1GB of RAM or dual core to make it fluid and smooth. It will consume a big chunk of the resource and battery. To me I don't see the point of having a laggy device for the sake of something look cool. Very impractical.

Maxximus has a valid point.
good mobile UI design must give consideration to balancing aesthetic against system load.
it's all well and good to have a shiny entertaining UI but if it bogs down functionality or kills the battery in 2 hours what's the point?

The point is this will probably run smoothly on current hardware which the N900 is not.
You also might want to check the second video where this UI has acceptable performance even on the N900.

And since when does alpha software has to be polished and AMAZING.

I have to say i'm confused over the laggy comment. Compared to ios 4 it's not much slower take into account that this is just a development release on a skin and I say it's pretty damn impressive.

ios is in it's 4th year and is rendering nothing but simple icons while the meego is rendering actual content videos and ablum covers that are no where near as compressed. The amount of r and d money that has been poured into ios and the lack that meego has recieved makes meego very promising.
