How to identify a fake N9
I am planning to buy a Nokia N9 tomorrow morning. Being aware of the fake ones available around, I am being a bit cautious and would like to know how can I identify if it is a real one or fake. Any commands which would produce a specific output or something like that?
Any help would be highly appreciated. |
Re: How to identify a fake N9
Watch youtube videos of N9 reviews, announcement etc. I never see a MeeGo clone. All I can see is N9 hardware clones. So know the phone close may help you.

Re: How to identify a fake N9
Are you going to see it before you buy or is it off the internet? As AJ said, all are n9 body clones, none of the meego software.
On the dialler, type *#0000# and it should say: Software version Vxxxxx_PR_00X N9 (C) Nokia Also check the IMEI begins with a 3, as this usually denotes Nokia. Otherwise, make sure it functions how you expect the N9 to do so i.e. swiping, no lag, same vkb etc. |

Re: How to identify a fake N9
I've seen a fair few fakes on ebay. Most seem to have "N9" printed in the upper corner of the screen which is an obvious giveaway(N9's have only Nokia actually printed).
Also any listing with descriptions similar to "a friend gave me this phone as a gift but I can't understand smartphones so putting it up for sale" should set alarm bells ringing. |
