Noob looking for a word processor

Hi got the 770 as a present ... really nice device

anyway...

Is there a word processor easily installable out there for the 770
something like EPOC's wordprocessor for psion5

I've had a scout around the maemo site but couldnt see what I was after
and I a bit new to Linux way of things so err be gentle ;-)

Im new to the 770 too and i haven't found any. You could maybe use the google office if opera lets you. But that would always require you to have an wireless internet connection.

Re: Noob looking for a word processor

I looked at the 2 seach finds and there from over a year ago and as shortkid1101 says they are far from stable.
Also I'm not that ninja with linux so I doubt I'd get that far.
Its a shame that nokia couldnt do a port of the epoc/symbian apps that shipped with the psion5 10 years ago - they were awesome
they would look good on the 770 or n800 too...
Obviously going to have to get deeper into linux and maemo etc
I aint that savy with all this and pointers in the right direction like would be appriciated

Do you really want to do high-profile DTP on a handheld? Wouldn't a port of LyX be more convenient for the hardware format?

I just like being able to throw boxes around the page - I use PagePlus on my PC for most thing rather then a wordprocessor unless it something realy simple then I just us wordpad.
I no nothing much of lyX but a quick look at the website make it seam quite interesting tho. thanks for the suggestion.
I personally cant port anything at the moment - did some very simple scripting and programing very many years ago...

It wasn't a request for you to port it, and it won't be a trivial task anyway. But since we already have TeX for Maemo, maybe LyX isn't that far-fetched anymore.

As to (simple) DTP, a vector-based drawing package might fulfill most of your needs.

Not that we have any of those either...
