Nokia maps not working anymore
 

Hello,

since a few days i'm not able any more to search locations in maps and it looks like that map data is also not downloaded any more for places which i have not looked at in maps before.
Is there somebody else who encounters this problems and knows how to fix it??

I really would like to keep on using my N9 as my daily phone. :(

I had this on both N900 also.
Tried to install other solutions, but the corresponding libs were missing.
What a pity but I had to leave N900.

Whilst not sure about "Search" just downloaded "Sweden" via "Manage Maps" without issue so servers, still functional in this respect.

Hi. I just upgraded my family from N9s to Sailfish X. Getting four phones up and running on top of everything else has kept me busy. As a result, I have not gotten the GPS/mapping situation on my phone installed and working. I have used my N9 without my SIM card as my automobile GPS and just yesterday I did an offline search and it worked as normal.

A couple of days prior, I had to do an online search, but I was still in my driveway and had WiFi connectivity, and it performed the search normally.

I know this doesn't help you resolve your problem, but it's at least a data point to give you hope that it's possible to continue using your N9. :D

The online search is working for "Drive", but not for "Maps", there is also version number 0.0.0.0 for maps data in the "About" screen of "Maps".

I deleted all the offline maps from the phone and now it doesn't show any map at all. If i download a map i have all zoom levels one for places i have been before, not for new places.

Nokia Maps should read Version 5.2.55 and Map Data 0.2.54.223 and Drive v2.08+0m8 limos-qml v0.45+0m7

Is this an historical N9 with original activation by Nokia account or reset one with subsequently modified drive.ini?

Have you also modified maps.conf as here?

Probably the same here. Online search in Nokia Maps doesn't work anymore, on the other hand offline search in Nokia Maps and search in Nokia Drive (even with online setting on) does. Workaround in Nokia Maps is to switch off "Online" in Nokia Maps settings before search.

Yes, I have already modified the .conf files for Maps and Drive.

Did notice that ability to download a new voice within Drive now seems to have disappeared fairly recently.

As With Shadowdog, i Get version number 0.0.0.0 for maps data in the "About" screen of "Maps". Is There a Fix For This? I'm Not Using ovi, I've Changed .conf To Here... Thanks

It looks like the phone tried to download a new map catalogue and failed. My guess is that the URL changed, or the server is offline. I have been having this issue for about a week now.

Restoring an old catalogue will again give you the old list of maps, but downloading does not work for me, again presumably because the server is offline.

Unfortunately it would now appear that "static.maploader.maps.svc.ovi.com/map5" has eventually been shut down within last few weeks. German car manufacturing consortium which bought HERE must have eventually decided that enough is enough.

Thanks for the heads-up, I figured so much.

This is very inconvenient, no longer having any sort of maps on the phone. Maybe the community could collect the map archives from users? People are bound to have downloaded a large part of the files, we would just need to make them available again.

There is just the index file, but no map/voice zip packages. Or am I missing something?
Are there any other mirrors?

Hi, I'm building my own website for Nokia N9 and more, on my NAS for permanent storage. I try to save as much as possible but the maps are a problem. If anyone has access to all maps, I would be happy if they can share them.

I have mirrored all maps on some hdd. Not sure about voices, but at least I have mirror or polish/english.
And about apps/games I strongly believe I have the most complete mirror of full versions (including rare stuff like OBD Auto Doctor Pro, Nokia Car with Mirrorlink, etc). I was unable to find 3-5 debs generally and never cracked FM Radio successfully(I bought it, but wanted to move to other N9s I bought after store closure).
I've mirrored multiple n9 archives in the past, so there are many dupes, etc needed to be cleaned up before uploading. I hope I wil buy some 12-14TB drives to move data from many smaller drives and organize/dedup it as one big categorized archive.
But don't worry, I will never delete anything n9 related!

Whilst further map data can be added to a device which was setup before map servers were turned off in June 2018, as far as I can see there is no way to re-commission a device after reset or re-flashing firmware since always required a few mb's of map data to be downloaded to initiate.

As a postscript I have seen posted that flashing eMMC image with map data will enable it to establish location, but have not had occasion to re-flash a device for a good while to prove/disprove this.
